Title: Ok, this is wierd....

Below is a clip of my mame.ini. After running MAMERES tool, I started getting the 'Ok' screen. *Note the skip_disclaimer, skip_gameinfo, and skip_validity


Whats going on?? :-\ ::)

are you getting the ok screens on games you previoulsy DIDN'T get them on?  Some of those screens can't be avoided unless you complie your own version of MAME

Yeah, some of the games (namely Galaga) prompts me for the OK screen now, whereas before, I cant remember a time that it did.

Any thoughts?

I think Galaga has had incorrect video emulation for some time...and you can't skip those warnings (with stock mame), as it helps deter people from asking 'why doesn't this game work properly'.

FWIW, Galage give me an OK screen as well for "video emulation not 100%" 

I've never seen this myself, but my only other guess is perhaps the game is being forced into a res it's not meant to be in??  I'm not sure that would bring up a MAME warning menu though.  In fact, I bet it doesn't but its the only other thing I can think of.

Or you just never realized the screen was there before?

I reckon this is it...the video emulation has always been dodgy IIRC.

Not afaik.  It plays fine, I believe it just uses the Galaxian star backdrop or something.

It says video emulation isnt 100% then when hte game loads its just random letters and numbers everywhere...

It's supposed to do that.  Let it load for a few seconds then try to coin up... it'll work.

If it doesn't, you have a bad rom or a problem somewhere, cuz Galaga has played fine for years.

That's funny. Lots of games do that as a sort of "self-test". Just wait for 10 seconds.....


Just remember, MAME emulates all software AND hardware, including POSTs. Most games take anywhere from 5-10 seconds to load. Be paitent.

Yay! that was it!  :D
Apparently it just takes longer than the other games that do that. :)
