simple: get another bit ;D

yeah, or you could try "wiggling" it, or using a sanding attachemnt on a dremel
-
it depends on what kind of buttons you have. Happ buttons require a 1-1/8" hole. Other brands are different.

I used a one inch hole saw on a panel once. I was able to widen the holes with a semi-round file in a few minutes. Easier to buy the right hole saw though.

They also make the 1 1/8" spade bits. Check your home depot.

Get the right tool for the right job. In this case it's a hole saw or a spade bit. The hole saw bit could set you back 15 bucks if you hit home depot or lowes. I just picked up a ful set from 1/2" -5 " for 20 bucks off ebay. If you are impulsive, go to sears:

1 1/8" spade bit is under 5 bucks ($3.99).
