Iv read as much as I can on this and think i have an idea of how to do this but there are a few grey areas i need clearing up. What are the the bits I have highlighted L and R shoulder button?
-
Yes those are the HED sensors for the analog shoulder buttons. DCTOJAMMA web page has which leg you would need to connect to your button.

And you can hack them to a microswitch... But then its all or nothing.

Connecting them is no problem. "All or nothing" means you will end up with a digital interface, and lose the analogue nature of the buttons. ie: the buttons will only be ON or OFF. They will no longer register varying degrees of accuracy, say like a driving game throttle, etc.

I apologise for the very crude drawings and my lack of understanding this is all very new to me. Have i got it right in my illustration?

Yeah that looks right, except uou only have to connect the ground wire to one of those points on the board.
