Title: is there a way to make pacman and ms pac. savve high scores ?

Hi. I am trying to find out how to make pacman and ms pacman save the high scores. Can this be done ?

Yes while not really "official"

there is a file you can stick in your directory

another way is to just save the game state and then reload it everytime you start again

I keep hoping someone will make a build to automatically do this (save the state on exit, restore it on start).  Trouble is it could be used in commercial machines to save credits.

But it would be cool to be able to quit in the middle of a game... The restart it later and continue that same game in an arcade cabinet without having to add a bunch of extra buttons that can get confising.

heaven forbid someone use mame outside of a house while thousands are playing games on roms they don't legally "own". that saving state idea is a real good one.

has anyone made a hack to allow highscore NAMES to be saved? (three letter combos for a hi score table) or is there a pac-man/mspac modified/bootleg rom that does this?
