Title: Latest buy.
Post by: paigeoliver on August 10, 2005, 10:24:29 pm
I don't WANT to daily drive my scooter anymore after the accident (I'll probably still keep the scooter, but I am not going to daily drive it any more).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4566895447&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAB:US:6 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4566895447&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAB:US:6)

It is being delivered to me tonight!!

I actually did a "buy it now" deal for it for $1800, as the seller was willing to take that price and a lot of those have actually been going a lot higher than that lately. On the plus side the seller is delivering it from Indiana for $100.

Searching previous auctions shows the following prices for Metro convertibles.

$3,151.00
$4,801.00
$1,456.00 (missing a window, had a hole in one of the body panels)
$2,124.99
$4,450.00
$3,519.25
$455.00 (someone got a DEAL on that one).

Carfax report on the one I am getting came out perfect, it will be here about 2 AM tonight.

Looks like you got a nice deal.

Geo Metro's are notorious for being laughed at. Some guy had some that i know and they got a couple guys and lifted it up and turned it sideways on it. heh.

nice price for it though. i guess.

On the plus side, finding a parking spot will never be a problem.

That's definitely something that you don't want to get in an accident in. the unibody is not very strong at all. I once saw one that had been ripped almost in half. One side was still being held together by about six inches of sheet metal in the floor. The other side was only being held together by the seat belt. Not making this up. I used to work at a body shop that shared a building with a wrecker service. Those cars just don't survive crashes.

As for you'll never get laid.  My wife loves those cars... (of course... hopefully she isn't still looking for guys with metro convertables :)

They are great cars.  Last forever, better gas milleage then most hybrids.

My wife would have bought one if it we could find one local... would have saved me thousands :)

I'm trying to figure out the logic of moving from one dangerous vehicle to another equally dangerous vehicle based on getting in an accident.

Well, I'm back at work now, but still walking with a cane.  I have a bulging disc in my lower back.  I should heal completely but it will be a few more weeks of therapy, rest, and corticosteroids.

A metro is about 40 times safer than a motorcycle. Both hurt if you crash hard, but Metros can't fall over, and you generally can
t fall off of them either.

I'm glad to hear you're keeping your scooter, those are really fun little bikes.  I hope this accident doesn't affect your future riding habits, gotta get back on the horse as it were.
