I will be using CAT5 as my wire for the microswitches (happ cherry)
What type of quick disconnects do I need? 22awg .187? Was at lowes yesterday and all they had was 14-22awg .25.
I just want to make sure I get a tight fit and they don't come off easy... thanks!

The Cherry switches come in a .187 and a .250 size. Unless you specify .250 spades I believe you get .187's. That's what mine came with anyway. The .250 slip off of the .187's too easily for it to be useful. It took me a week to find .187 disconnects in Austin but I finally found them through a local electronics store. I tried Home Depot and Lowes but they only had .250's. Radio Shack had .187's but they were in packages of male/female (5 of each) for ~ 2 bucks. As my CP needs 80+ that would have been absurdly expensive. Your best bet is to look for an electronic suply shop, or order them from Happs, Bob Roberts, etc. I have heard that some boating/marine dealer/repair shops might have the right size but I haven't looked.

hmm.. didn't know you could specify .250
no problem.. no love lost..
i'll hit up the local radio shack first.. see what they have.. hopefully the pricing isn't as bad as you experienced...
outside of that i'll try to find a local electronics store... thanks for the tip!

one more thing.. lowes DID have .157 fem disconnects..
how snug would that be on a .187? probably too snug?
Want them snug but at the same time not stuck.. hehe

Well the 187's I got from Bantam are super tight. I have to push hard and hold the back of the microswitch to put them on and they don't come off without a little bit of work. My advice would be to take a switch with you to Lowes. Usually you can slip a connector out of the packaging without opening it. Just pop one out and see how it fits. Depending on the manufacturing tolerances of the disconnect it might fit <shrug> Just be sure to put the connector back in the packaging when your done :p

I had the same experience at Radioshack, so I ordered from Radioshack online(100pk). I used to have the link somewhere. I'll post it if I can find it.

I had the same problems with Radio Shack. I ended up finding bulk packs of the .187 female connectors at Advance Auto Parts.
