I am using a 3" Happs trackball connected through an optipac and Ive had problems with it ever since I set it up. It is pretty bad with rollback, if you spin it too fast it will always go in the opposite direction. Now Ive grown used to this and know how to use it really well, but guest are always really confused. I was wondering if one of those upgrade kits from GroovyGameGear would solve the problem? Should I use a USB trackball instead? Any other hints?

I have the same trackball connected via the happs UGCI. I have the same problem. So, I'd be interested in any solution as well.
I've tried altering the analog settings in mame, as well as changing the windows settings...
-
However, an interesting note is that this problem only seems to present itself within MAME...
Perhaps analog mame will do the trick?

hmm, thats a good idea. I actually use mame32, but I also have what i believe to be analog mame32 that I was using for two light guns, Ill have to try using that instead and see if it gives me better results.

Please post here if it does.
Good luck :)

Take a look at this post - I had the same problem when I first built my cab last Sept/Oct. Replacing my mouse driver with one that let me disable/adjust mouse acceleration seemed to do the trick. Read thru this post, there's a link (not sure if it's good anymore) for the drivers I used that helped solve my problem.

I tried downloading new drivers, but none of them would recognize the serial mouse. Does anyone konw any good drivers for serial mice where I can turn off the acceleration?
-
Anyone have any help on this? I cant seem to get it to work any better no matter what I do. Should i just shell out the money for a USB Trackball?

Have you tried this site to find a driver that might solve your problem?
