Title: Removing an old cp overlay
Post by: traknfieldSUPAstar on August 10, 2005, 11:25:58 am
What's the best way to remove an overlay on a metal cp? I started to peel the one I have right now, but it's brittle and it comes off in strips, plus there's still a "sticky" residue left over. Any suggestions?

on a side note: Is a heat gun the best way to remove side art (the sticker kind, not the painted ones)?

Soak the entire metal panel in paint stripper for at least 5 hours, then use a metal scraper to get the overlay off.

Keep peeling/ripping it away.

Get one of those razor scrapers. That helps.

Then when it's all off, use Goo Gone and the razor scraper to remove the sticky stuff.

Heat gun to remove the CPO, followed by laquer thinner on a rag to remove the goo.

I've prefer goo be gone as well, but any orange cleaner will work in a pinch.
