Title: TV Angle
Post by: naomi+ on December 31, 2002, 12:05:58 am
A friend told me that putting a TV at any angle other than perpendicular to the ground would damage it over time. I'm gonna start on a cab next week and the plans are coming together, and this would change them a bit, is this true anybody? I want to tilt it back a bit. thx

Although that could be true... I honestly don't think so for two reasons.

1) I can't picture so many bars / restaurants who all tilt their TV's just letting them get damaged over time (and even if they are getting damaged over time... how long is that time? I've been going to the same restaurants with same TV for many years)

2) I couldn't find anything like that on google.  ;D

It's possible that the shadow mask might not be attached strongly enough on a standard TV to allow it to be mounted horizontally (i.e. cocktail style) for an extended period, but I don't think it would be damaged just from angling it back 10-15o or so.

A lot of people are using angled screens, and an awful lot of those are TVs, so if it was a drastic prob, I think we'd have heard about it by now...
