Ok guys.. I think I've got the hang of this now.
I've got too many buttons and controls on my CP to just use a single DB25, so I have to use two.
My question is... Can I use the ground coming out of the Keywiz hooked up to both DB25-1 and DB25-2 ? Will this work?
I've thrown up a very nice picture to demonstrate my proposed setup. Let me know if you think this'll work ok?

Thanks guys!

Please pay particular attention to how I really 'captured' the likeness of the dreamcast pads.
yes.. I thought you'd like that.

Unsure how that setup would work with hacked pads however in theory if you had a shared ground you may run into issues with needing both devices being active for it to work.
Another solution would be if you had a X-arcade BYOA kit it natively connects to a PC via serial to USB and if you were to use it for a Dreamcast its a simple adapter. I wired mine up today with a DB25 (using serial to DB25 adapters) data switch and have Dreamcast, Xbox, Gamecube and PC all selectible using a switch box. No unplugging, etc... No worrying about grounds, etc.. worth a thought if you arent too far into it.

I've already got my CP up and running. And it's not an x-arcade unit.
Ugh.. if this doesn't work, I really don't know what will. That ground is really killing me.
Any suggestions?

I know its not an xarcade unit. I was suggesting that if you continue to have problems its a great way to go. I am of course referring to buying the xarcade encoder and adapter not the horrible panel they make.

Hey folks. I'm still looking for other suggestions to help me get this going!
Anyone?

As far as ground is concerned, you should be fine. Most if not all logic level ground is the same for the entire system (especially when it comes to USB/PS2). I would say try it... it certainly won't hurt anything. Like any other control panel, all the ground leads are typically chained together anyway.
Give it a shot... I would.

I'm willing to give it a go.. but it would require a complete rewiring of my system. So, I'm hoping to avoid it if it's not going to work.
What I don't understand is... Is what I'm suggesting completely out of the ordinary? What do most people do? I thought I was doing something pretty standard!
Thanks!

The majority of people that I know with Dreamcasts in a cab do not put additional systems or computer with MAME along side the Dreamcast.
With that said you should be able to do what you are suggesting with a DB25 setup.
I've got mine going along side a xbox, ps2, gamecube, and mame but I went the X-arcade BYOA kit and adapters to DB25 w/ a data switch box. So no disconnecting and swapping connectors and it works fine. I have some hacked DC controllers that I can probably use to test this out for you, but likely wouldnt get arround to testing it till Saturday.

Don't spend too much time on it.. but, if you have some extra (time).. please, feel free! :) I'm a novice with this stuff... so rewiring my cabinet is going to take the better part of an entire weekend! :)
Thanks!
