Does anyone have a tip for removing the Tamper Resistant Sar screws out of a unit, if you don't have access to the proper tool...I was thinking of trying to drill out the pin and using a regular alan/star hey, but I'm not sure if it would be possible...
Any ideas?

Yup, you can drill it out

Kewl, I will give it a try tonight...do I drill out the pin or whole screw?

Great...I'm not too steady, or good with the tools, but I'll give it a go...thank you.

I use a good set of vise-grip pliers to grab the screw head from the sides and then unscrew it.
if that doesn't work, you can also use a dremel with a cutting disk to cut a slot in the head and use a standard flathead screwdriver to unscrew it. If you have no dremel, a hacksaw will make the slot too.

Find a drill bit that is JUST smaller than the area within the hex/torx. Go very slow, and try not to rub out the star/hexagon design so that you can use a hex/torx key after.
Or.. if they aren't very tight, you could always try to ol BIC pen trick... they'll probably be too tight for that tho.

In my experience, it's not that tough.

Sweet...I have hope of getting these stupid things out tonight...this is my first cab, and I'm trying to take my time, so I don't end up breaking things...I don't want to do something stupid...
Thanks for the tips...

The other thing you could do is to buy some tamper proof bits :D
I got mine for ~$5 off eBay, but I later found them at Sears.
The thing about Sears was that nobody knew they had them AND the package wasn't even labled as being tamper-proof. I just happened to pick up a set of torx bits there, looked at the tips through the plastic and saw that they were hollow. DOH!

If the screw head is exposed, cutting a slow is a snap. Finding those bits isn't particularly difficult, though. I would think you could get a bit set or even a proper star screw driver pretty easily. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to actually do things the right way.

What is a BigLots??
I was hoping to get this done tonight, that's why I was looking for some way to do it without having to wait until I could get the proper tool...I want to remove the old board that hold the speakers (mono), and mount a new board, with a set of Sony X-Plod speakers...
I think we have Lowes coming here, but for now, only Home Depot exists...

I used my dremel and a cutting disc to cut a slot into each screw, adn it worked great...
Thanks to all for the tips...
