My Oscar V2 spinner (USB) works, but the only way I can get it to work when I power up my XP machine is to unplug it and plug it right back in after I start-up, or whenever I want to use it for my MAME games. Everything else is working fine. Any suggestions?
Specs:
Gateway P4
Happ trackball
GP-Wiz Max
Keyboard

Try to see what is wrong at bootup. Boot up with it connected and look in the control panel folder for the mouse item. Look for hardware options and troubleshoot as needed.
Without knowing the exact problem, it is hard to suggest a solution.

This is a problem relating to USB. Going to Device Manager won't help, because the device isn't detected and therefore won't show up.
What else do you have plugged in that's USB? and those devices are detected and work at bootup?
For testing purposes and to get to the root of the problem:
A. You could try using a different USB port on your PC.
B. A powered USB Hub.
See if any of those work and report back what you find.

What make Mobo do you have?
Are these the USB powered by the South Bridge or a discrete chipset?
Have you updated drivers?
Lotsa stuff to troubleshoot here...

Last... this has nothing to do with Oscars spinner... but Oscars hacked mice.
Does this happen with a normal mouse?
-
Is the spinner plugged into a hub or directly to the computer?
Is the port USB 1.1 or 2?
-
It is connected into a 1 into 4 hub...
-
I'm guessing the hub is not self powered?
Try plugging the device into the USB ports of the PC or powering the hub.

Well, plugged it straight ito the PC and so far, so good! Thanks guys!! If it gives any more trouble, I'm gonna tell it you guys are going to take it out at the kneecaps!

had a similar problem with my light gun. I plugged it in through the hub and it wouldn't recognize, but when I put it into the computer, worked like a charm. I bet it's the hub that is the problem.

A good quality USB hub can solve many problems. I upgraded from a cheap hub to a self powered Adaptec hub and all my USB problems went away.

I have my Vortex hooked up through my Minipac, but my Happs trackball is hooked up through Oscar's mouse hack. For the longest time I had it running through a powered USB hub, but recently unplugged the power and set it to get the juice from the computer. Just a 4-way Belkin (5 after MIR) that's never had any issues.
