hi there all. I don't know if anyone has done this up i do see a lot of people asking how to boot up straight into mamewah or other front ends.I was just setting up a new pc in my cabinet and stumbled on this cool way of doing it. just go to your controll panel and click on the power options icon click on the advanced tab and where it says (when i press the power button on my computer) select hibernate from the drop down menu, then go to the hibernate tab and check the box saying enable hibernate.click apply that's it.
run mamewah or your frontend then press your off button,your computer will save the state of you pc to the hard drive then shut down, when you press it again to start up your pc will start up in mamewah, an added bonus is that your cab will start up about 4 times faster than it did before.
I hope this helps some people out. or have you all thought of this already and I'm the last thicko to think of it lol.
let me know :)

Heh, no it's a good idea. Personally I prefer shutting down Windows each time...dunno why, call me old-fashioned :)

It's a fine idea. I used to do it, and it's fairly quick. Every week or so I'd give the thing a proper reboot. No real reason why, I just felt better about it somehow.
BUT... I can't do it anymore. My KeyWiz loses its memory. :-(
And yes, I'm already trying to come up with a rechargeable battery solution, so it won't lose memory during hibernation (if anyone has thoughts in this area so I don't stumble blindly into it, let me know).

That's a fantastic idea. I have to try that!

just wondering if anyone ever figured out a way to keep the keywiz from losing it's settings.

It's a great idea! I have been doing it for about 1 1/2 years with only about 20 or so reboots.
If you use a power sensing power strip you can automatically turn off all the other components in the arcade ( such as monitor, control panel lights ETC ) all with the push of a button! Push the same button and the whole thing boots up ready to go in 20 seconds or so.
BTW Thanks for a fantastic program Minwah! It makes the whole arcade@home experience much better!

Sorry to bump an old topic but before I try what the OP suggested, is there a way to turn this off if I don't like it? Also, does pressing the power button again power everything off (I'm using a smart strip). I'm trying to boot straight to Gamelauncher (using XP) with one-button press and then power down using the same button.
THANKS!!
