I am starting a new cab and was thinking about using BAND-IT BLACK MELAMINE 24" X 96" IRON-ON to cover the control panel and was wondering if any of you had used this. And if so how well did this work. My control panel is going to be 18X48.

Thanks

I would expect it to do fairly well, but I don't know if it would start to come up around the edges or not. I'm pretty sure some of the commercial pre-built control panels use melamine. I don't know what brand or applicaation method they use, though. Heck, they might even use pre-coated MDF.

I can't say anything about that in particular, but a lot of people, including myself, have used the adhesive vinyl from PartsExpress with a lot of success.

I know it's not exactly the answer you were looking for, but it may be worth considering. It's cheaper than the melamine, a bit easier to apply IMO, and holds up really nicely on a CP.

If you're looking to spend that much, you might also want to consider laminate (like Formica). It's not that much more and it's virtually indestructible.

Good point. My local Home Depot has laminate right in store. I think the prices were $25ish and $45ish, for something like 2' x 4' and 4' x 8' sheets respectively.

Yup, and they carry it in black, too.
