Title: Making a run to Coin Op Wharehous, anyone want anything
Post by: crsdawg on August 03, 2005, 02:16:31 pm
i'm planning a trip to Coin Op wharehouse in the coming days and was wondering if anyone here wants anything? lloyd is blowing out a bunch of games for $40, so now is a good time to buy. i've been putting this trip off for a couple months now but it's finally time.

i originate in southern, mo and will probably be hitting these cities:

columbus, oh
detroit, mi
chicago, il
milwaukee, wi
st. louis, mo
possibly, kansas city, mo
and end in springfield, mo

i'll also be stopping by kirk weavers place. he sells a lot of pins on ebay. his curent auction link is here (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZkaweaverQQssPageNameZSTRKQ3aMEFSQ3aMESOI).

i'm looking to reduce my gas cost so there will be a fee involved, but it will be reasonable considering the distance. i was thinking $100 for one game, $150 for two. it really depends on the load, tho.

If I were looking for just parts, would you be able to ship? I need the makings of a Kangaroo: board, bezel, control panel, marquee.

i'm not sure exactly what he still has in stock. i know it's been picked through, but if he's still got 360 machines there has got to be some decent stuff left. i checked his last picture update (7-30), and saw a bunch of stuff i'd like to get a hold of.

here's those pics:

http://www.coinopwarehouse.com/pictures.html

i would shoot him an email and see if he has a kangaroo left. i could possibly part it out for you, although i'm not sure what i'd do with the cab.

his email can be found on this page:

If he's got an El Dorado EM pin, I'll give you $200 for it if it's complete.

i can check for ya when i get there. if you want to pm me your phone, i can give you a call and give you a description. there's not that many pics of pins left on his site, so i wouldn't get my hopes up, but you never know.

If he has any donkey kongs or mario bros, can you get me one?  I live in toledo, which is close to detroit, and you'd have to go through it anyway, wouldn't you?

Put me down for a DK and a mario bros.

I will make the trip to meet you somewhere if I need to.

Thanks!

i'm not sure of his inventory and i'm not affiliated with them at all. you might try emailing loyd. his contact info is on this page:

http://www.coinopwarehouse.com/contact.html

if your talking about a hydro thunder cp(did they make an ur?), keep in mind those are big and i'd have to get more for the delivery.

mg- i've got no problem picking up those frames for ya. no guarantees tho, who knows what will be left by the time i get there.

How many cabinets are you going to be able to move?
I'm in the NW suburbs of Chicago and I would be interested in an old namco style cabinet if it were in decent condition and maybe a cocktail too.

If anyone is interested, as of yesterday Lloyd still has the Blitz 2000 machine shown on his site. He wants $300 for it with a bad monitor though...

if i stand up the games i can carry 12 with room to spare on the trailer. i prefer to lay them down and when i do it limits me to 5 to 7, depending on game size.

If you can get a descent looking, gutted pacman looking cab and/or a descent looking, gutted cocktail - then I'm game.
When were you planning on making the trip?

let me help everyone a little bit. the dk's and marios are in half way good condition. there is no "free" pile anywhere. there wasn't a kangaroo anywhere that i saw. blitz's monitor is a simple fix...cab is a little beat up though. none of the pins are "complete"...some are close but all are tore up. 360 machines are still there but going quick. i did see a hand full of monitors that parts could come off of. if i am not mistaken...the hydro thunder is spoken for and went for somewhere around $900 working. there may be 1-2 halfway decent cocktails left. there is a shelf full of boards there...problem is i dont think anything is labeled. final point is that Lloyd is having some many people call him to ask questions then never shown up to get the pieces that he really doesnt want to talk to anyone. you can get GREAT deals but at this point only in person. i hope all of this info helps.

Hey Matt.   I'm hoping Crsdawg can help me out with that Blitz.  Care to elaborate on the monitor problem?  I have no monitor experience....

Thanks.  Does anyone know, do regular TV shops repair "arcade" monitors?

If you'd be willing to pick up some pieces for me, I'd be a happy-type of guy!

I'm in the market for a monitor, and perhaps a few control panels.  Maybe a coin door?  Let me know, and we'll see if we can work out the details!

SELECT * FROM CoinOpWarehouse WHERE (Control.Panel=cool AND Control.Panel=needed) OR (Cabinet.Pieces=useful)

conseit-

thanks for the heads up. i bet your right and lloyd is busy and not responding to emails very quickly. a tip to anyone who's interested, make it clear in your mail that you are ready to send him cash and your chances of getting through are good. at least that's been my experience.

another thing, and i hate to do this, but i'm not going to be able to grab just parts. i've had tons of parts request. i'm going to be on a fairly tight schedule once i hit hagerstown. cow isn't my only stop in maryland. there's simply not going to be time to part out 20 machines once i'm there(then the problem of packing and shipping 20 packages). i feel bad, but it's something i'm just not going to be able to do.

cow does sell and ship parts, although now is not a good time for it. once he's settled in to his new place i'm sure he will help you guys out.

as for my trip, everything is still on schedule and i'll be leaving this weekend.

fyi, for the ones who were interested in full games the space is getting thin. i don't want to have to turn anyone down, but once i'm full, i'm full.

art,
i wanted to mention http://eldoradogames.com/ repairs most monitors. you just send in the bad chassis and they will swap it for a working one. quick turn around.

also if you get the game i'll take a look at it once it's at your place. i've had a decent amount of experience with arcade monitors and i should be able to track down the problem if it's something simple.

Cool, ish...  You someone i know?

Anyway i never said it was a good thing.  The only coin op thing we have here is south texas vending in brownsville.  Iam afraid to ask prices from there.  If anyone knows of any coin op junkyards in deep south texas, please lemme know.

I got a bad vibe from the dude managing STV (South Texas Vending) in Brownsville. The owner seemed cool, though. That was a couple years ago, though. I don't know what it's like now. They don't give handouts, though.

The arcade inside the mall in Harlingen will put their machines up for sale every fall, though. They'll put a price tag on every machine in the place. The only problem is that they're just selling fully functional machines. If you're just looking for parts, you won't get a deal. I must admit some of their machines were very reasonably priced, though.

And this dude from Raymondville was a bisexual HEB cashier. He would drive all the way to the north 10th HEB in McAllen to go to work. That's how he met my ex. That was already 5 or 6 years ago, though. So as long as you're not him, you're cool.

Yeah, i know the manager at harlingen tilt personaly. (but who dosen't though).  And since i am not bi and never go to mcallen, i don't think thats me. ;D  and as far as resonably priced?  Iam not to sure about that one.  I've been eyeing that ddr ex for a while, 2 years ago they wanted $8000, last year, $12,000.  They can be had new online for $5000.  (i guess once you factor shipping) Anyway, looks like this one will slip through my fingers, not that much cash on hand anyway.  Anyway, trying to build a candy style cab for a dreamcast.  Id be better if i didn't try to price stuff.  btw, do you know a good place to purchase monitors around here?

P.S.  sorry for the temp. hijack.

Seriously though, I might know you, i don't know names though.

I doubt we know each other. South TX is bigger than people realize. Anyways, I saw some sort of Tekken in a Midway cabinet for $300 with a working 25" monitor. That's not too bad for south TX. As for monitors, STV has tons of monitors on shelves. I don't know if they're for sale or how much they would want for one, though. Probably too much.

Crsdawg:

I sent you a PM to say that your offer to deliver was more than fair, but that I'd sit out and wait for a cheaper cab.

But since someone posted eldorado games, and your offer to try and help fix it, I'm going to reconsider.

I've always wanted  a Blitz machine.

I'll PM and we'll work out the details.
