well, more a kind of barely audible chuckle really. the scene didnt actually involve chapelle himself as such. when i almost kinda laughed last night it occurred to me that this show is supposed to be funny...
-
umm that show owns your soul thx
you have to be semi racist inside for it to be funny, i personally find it hillarious. dave chapplle is great cause he makes fun of his own race and isnt afraid to talk about stereotypes that are really real, and funny because of that
-
hey Danny,
What time was that on last night? I saw in a tv guide it was supposed to be on after Southpark on SBS but an add on SBS just said there was 2 eps of southpark and then the news. So I didn't bother watching.
-
I've never seen his show but his standup special on HBO had my wife and I rolling. Did anybody see that? I love the bit about "Grape Drink", we still laugh about it all the time. Half-Baked was a classic too.

The Chappelle Show ROCKS!!
Funniest bit is the one when he explains that "White People Dance only if the right music is played"

i disown ALL of you! his stand up shtick is pure EDDY MURPHY- but 15 years too late. and dont get me started on the sketches... DYLAN MORAN he aint...
cd, yes it was on after southpark. now SOUTHPARK is funny...

Eddie Murphy went with over the top outlandis and fictional personal experiences. DC is observational. I don't think their styles could be more different. Ehh.. I guess you're right, they are both black after all.
-
Yea, Chapelle's standup is nothing like Eddie Murphy...at all.

Chappelle is damn funny.
Southpark can be quite funny too.
Not ever having heard of him, I'll say that Sylan Moran is funny.
-
yeah man i think youre alone in not liking Dave Chappelle
-
Chapelle is great in skits, when you have someone else doing the writing off of Chapelle's concepts. Chapelle's standup is mediocre and always was, that's why he was never a major star until this show. He's a great skit guy, good with concepts, not that great if he has to do all of his own work.
Remember, he's not the one who does the majority of writing on that show.

Darkness, say it ain't so. :'(

hater =P go play with kangaroos and throw boomerangs or something

By the end of the second season, his two notes of music were getting pretty old anyway. I suspect the third season was going to blow and he knew it.
-
I find the show to be somewhat funny, but it's not anything I go out of my way to watch. I'll watch it if I happen to catch it coming on and there's nothing else of interest on at the time.
Next white guy who I hear saying "I'm Rick James, b*tch" is getting punched in the head.

I dunno... I saw a guy helped off the football field with a leg injury a couple of weeks ago and he was yelling WHAT AM I GONNA DO ABOUT MY LEG CHARLIE MURPHY!
It was funny.

They haven't aired the third season.

To each his own, but I bet the guys who don't like Chappelle are the same guys that make -INSERT NAME OF LAME BEN STILLER COMEDY HERE- box office hits.
If I have to sit through another trailer of the latest Vince Vaugn,Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson with a surprise cameo by....Christopher Walken(Can you beleive it!?) film, I am going to hurt somebody.

Exactly!

well at least i laugh occasionally watching a ben stiller flick. ill wait and see if chappelle makes a movie. ill go and watch it with an open mind and see if he finally makes me laugh out loud.

He was in Con Air. His final appearance in that movie made me laugh.

i must apologise. i watched another episode last night since i had nothing to do. i paid particular attention to his stand up routine. so he comes out and says something about how he has a lot of things on his mind but he cant really say them on TV, they would be too controversial. of course if say, a nice white girl were to say them it would be ok. hey! he just so happens to have a nice white girl backstage. she comes out and he 'writes' down his thoughts and she proceeds to sing them. she sang such gems as " OJ didnt do it" and " i'd like to stick a finger or two up the singing girls butt".
PURE COMEDY GOLD! once again i apologise for not seeing the shear brilliance of his act...

and what time was it on last night? Yet again both the tv guide from the newspaper and at ninemsn has led me astray and stated that it wasn't on - so I didn't bother to turn to SBS. Did watch a few eps of Alias from season 3 in preparation on season 4 finally starting on Thursday
