I saw and played one @ the H.A.A.G. Expo this year... it was SOOOO akwerd to play as you would need 3 hands! :P
-
I also played it at the HAAG expo. Pretty original game in fact with really cool controls.

I love WACKO! It's a pretty simple concept, but fairly addicting. You can actually play just fine with two hands.. one to more your ship around with the trackball, and one to fire with either joystick (you choose, based on your handedness). It's actually quite playable on most mame cabs that people are building, what with the proximity of trackballs and joysticks.
I also love the look of the cabinet--so many slants all over the place! Quite original.

Hey, that Wacko has QBert burn-in...
I played this for the first and only time at Santa's Village in NH. Thought the cabinet was really cool, but the game a little childish (matching up monsters?).
-
The game CONCEPT may be childish.
Game PLAY, on the other hand, is anything but.
The difficulty ramping on that game is steep.
-
and DING DING DING on the burnin!
GOOD EYE!

Oh my god Ray B, that was the one I played too! I grew up in Maine, and my family went to Santa's Village almost every year. Remember the sweet Spy Hunter Cockpit they had? They also had some other cool titles.. heck, I bet most of those games are still there!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I am now living in CA, and have seen a few more Wackos out here--at the CA extreme mostly.

I remember the first and only time I played this game was in Philly a few days after Return of the Jedi (the movie) came out, I had my tickets but had about an hour to kill before the show. An arcade down the street had about 6 Wacko machines in a row. If you think the slanted cabinet looks odd next to normal machines, you should see 6 of them side by side.

That's funny, I used to work there in high school. I worked in their arcade sometimes.
