Title: RBJoy and JoytoKey/Joy2Key Users?
Post by: KenToad on August 01, 2005, 01:03:04 pm
Hey All,

I'm using two of RandyT's GP-Wiz49's as my joy/button interfaces for gaming.  So, naturally, I can't just set up any old jukebox or Visual Pinball to accept gamepad inputs.  I tried RBJoy, the latest version, but I have minimal Ram and actually noticed slowdown with the program constantly running in the background.

I'm excited about the other thread discussing shutting down Windows services for a performance gain.  However, I wonder if others have used these RBJoy type programs on borderline computers and found they slow down certain apps?

My comp, btw, is an emachines 1.9 gig celeron with 128 megs of ram.  I know it's crap.  My friend left town and so . . .it's my third computer, dedicated to emulation and mp3's.

Any info. would be appreciated.  Also, I have been checking the VPforums and there seem to be a couple of ways to get joystick support on the latest release of Visual Pinball, namely using the programs I'm mentioning or similar and kind of a sketchy/alpha joystick support within the program code.

Cheers,
KenToad

Okay, well no replies yet, but Chris' WinCab can accept gamepad inputs and looks great.  This should be more well advertised, I believe.  Several (all?) of the other popular jukeboxes cannot be easily controlled by gamepad inputs.

SQrl,

Nope, I haven't tried that one.  Actually, I thought that a program useful only for people who need joystick drivers for the parallel port.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll give it a try as soon as I find a suitable place to download.

Cheers,
