Hey everybody, this is my first post here at the forums so I'm a completely new! However I have completed one arcade cabinet that I will submit to the database one of these days, so I somewhat know what I'm doing. However, I'm still looking for one important piece of the puzzle.
I'm in the design and plan phase of my next arcade cabinet and I'm still looking around for monitors. Specifically I'm looking for a 27+ inch monitor with VGA inputs just like a computer monitor. This way I don't need to worry about low resolution tv monitors and can use USB lightguns and stuff. I remember seeing something like this real cheap at a computer trade show a long time ago but I don't know if they are still available.
Does anyone know where I can get something like this online? Does something like this even exist?
Thanks

It exists. The best commercially available one probably being the Wells Gardner D9200 (http://www.wellsgardner.com/wellsgardner31/catalog.cfm?dest=itempg&itemid=596&secid=4&linkon=subsection&linkid=8). They arn't cheap though, at least as expensive as a good quality PC monitor.

I hear to stay away from Pentranics.

Yes, check both the reviews. I checked several times and ended up buying a betson which is sitting behind me right now. Games look fantastic.

Where did you buy it......and what price?...Can you direct me ....My Zenith 27' is on it way out and I need a repalcement..
I bought it directly from betson... specifically Buena Park, CA.
Here is a list of their locations: http://www.betson.com/about/offices.html
It was listed for 469.95 on their website but they had it on special for 399.95. Walked out the door with it for $430. Nice to avoid shipping also and you have it in your hands the same day. 8)
Needless to mention their store was cool to browse. They do sell it online, but then you have to pay shipping.
Overall the monitor is very nice, but ocasionally as noted by others there is slight discoloration in the bottom corner. Sometimes all it takes is a degauss to get rid of it for a while.

I'm interested in this monitor as well. I see they have two listed on their site, what's the difference between the "27"DIGITAL MULTI SYNC GLOBAL" and the "27" DIGITAL GOLDEN T BIG/BUCK?"
I assume the Golden T one has some kind of special cable, where-as the Global is a plain old VGA cable, is this correct?

I noticed that too.. the one I got was 44-4070-RT. They do not have that one listed anymore on their website. They did have it listed a few weeks ago when I bought it.
If I was going to get one I would get the 27" DIGITAL MULTI SYNC GLOBAL. I'm not sure what the difference between them is.. you might be able to call betson and find out.
The one I have has a standard VGA cable and a three prong power cable. If you can do a local pickup at the office i'm sure you can inspect it prior to purchase.

I live not to far away from SanFrancisco, so I'll check it out in person. I suppose it could be the same thing, just with a seperate entry for people searching for a replacement for the specific arcade machine.
Guess I'll find out in person. :)

their monitors with the part numbers starting with 4070 are all the same. that is what the guy behind the parts counter, at betson, told me. i have two of them sitting right next to me for the next two machines ;D. i have had well over 10 of these monitors and i only have needed to take one of them back so far. i guess i have been lucky.

I have the betson & its awesome the only problem i had was a few color distortions when i installed it, but no problem, i have a deg. coil, so that fixed that, i paid 360.00 plus 25.00, betson runs these monitors on special like this every year at Christmas
