not sure if this is in the right forum or not but i'm having a problem with MAME32. when I run certain games, the screen isn't working right. just mostly black with a few lines of b&w or color depending upon the screen. I can hear the game and it's "working" but I can't see it. If I change the monitor settings to just play in a window rather than full screen, it's fine.
it's just started doing this the past day or so. and only on same games (virtua fighter, tempest, pacman). Others are fine. I ran the same game on my laptop and they work fine. I tried resetting the "factory" settings in mame32 but still no luck. the only thing i've tried that works is to change it to run in a window rather than full screen...
any suggestions on things to try?
BTW- this is just one a standard VGA monitor on a P4 2ghz system if it makes a difference.. not sure what video card I have in it currently.

Chances are the game is trying to send a resolution your monitor doesn't like. Try setting the resolution in MAME32 config (right click on a game and choose "properties") to as follows:
320x240
400x300
512x384
640x480
800x600
1024x768
1280x1024,
etc
Try several to see what works best with your monitor.

for whatever reason when I installed mame32 ver 99 it took care of the problems...
I just added an LCD screen so now I have a feeling I"m in for more adjustments. so far so good but I did notice that some of the full screen games were to the left and I know I just read something aobut that today so off the forums to search for that answer... :)
