Title: Neo-Geo MVS - SNK - How good of a deal?
Post by: xonix_digital on July 27, 2005, 10:32:35 pm
Hey guys I found what I think is a pretty killer deal.
It's a Neo Geo SNK MVS Upright, with Samurai Showdown, ninja combat, and some other japanese cartriges.

It is in great shape except the board doesn't power up. I think its something simple tho because everything seems fine.

AND it's $150.00

Looks EXACTLY like this:

Tell me what you think!

are you looking to mame it btw? do you know for sure the monitor works. if so, sounds like $150 is a good deal.

If the monitor works and there are a few decent carts, then I think it is a heck of a deal, even if you have to replace the board completely.

I bought my NeoGeo because the price was right (and I was afraid of auctions at the time) and now it gets more play than anything else (it's almost annoying because my son wants me to change carts at least once a day).

Now, if I were you, I might change the button configuration to match original Neo-geo layout and might remount the board (if needed) for easy cart changing, but that's minor stuff.

Cheers.

Looks very similar to mine when I bought it. I painted mine red and added the Neo-Geo side art. I paid $200 for mine but everything was working fine when I got it.

Mine also gets more play time than anything else in my collection, particularly when we have guests. There are a ton of really fun two player simultanious games on the MVS.

The Button Configuration is like this:

(JOY)     O   O   O       (JOY)     O   O   O
          O                               O

I think that was the original setup. The one in the pic is from KLOV.

Also The Cartiges can be changed right through the coin door. I don't know how easy it would be to get it out of there but I could definately grab a hold of it.

I rally thought this would be good. I know it would be DEF worth it for me at least. I just have to come up with the money. LOL And legalize my car!  :police:

I'd buy it in a heartbeat at $150 if the monitor was in good shape and had a good picture.  Even if the cartridges weren't that hot, I'd still say it's worth it.

Sorry, the button layout looked different to me in the pic -- disregard my comment.

And, behind the coin door is exactly where I would suggest, unless there is a convenient shelf behind the CP and the CP is hinged, like my MVS 2-25. So, again, I guess you can ignore that comment.

At the end of the day, I guess all I have to say is sounds like a good deal.

Cheers.

Mine has the same coin door and the cab looks very similar. If you can get ahold of the cart, you can swap it out. That's exactly how I do it with mine.
