very cool.... makes me want a PSP even more :(

Is there any idea how long it will be until homebrew will be possible on 2.0?

there are a few options being talked about, none of which are doable yet.  one is being able to boot any firmware you want, second is to make the PSP not care what firmware you have and the third option is a modchip.

maybe by the time they make it useable, I'll have found a way to afford one :)

Although the idea of a modchip does NOT sound fun for the PSP

I just downloaded the neo geo cd emulator for my version 1.5. being able to play metal slug is the only thing keeping me from updating.

Is that a logitech playgear pocket?

Impressive.....

Anyways, I probably won't be upgrading for a while, simply because I want my PSP to remain as a homebrew machine. The features look nice, though. Definately worth it if you're not a homebrew nut like me.

yes it is the logitech case. Its great but it scratches easily but at least it protects the psp.

Ive never tried samurai showdown 2. I dont have the rom but everything I have tried works fine with sound. except for aero fighters 3 no sound but I dont think I have all the mp3's for it

i just tried metal slug. very sweet, but i had alot of slowdown. still ran good tho.

it surprizes me that ngpc can have choppyness, but the neogeo in almost all its glory runs fine (i know its the cd version, but still, it amazes me)

i can test the all the ss series if you want. give me some time, tho

yes its inevitable, but i beleive it will take quite a while, so if anyone wants some homebrew/emu fun, go get one now before they slowly get upgraded to newer versions of the firmaware.

oh and beware of firmware updates from games.

your having slow down with metal slug 1? what speed is your cpu set to? Are you running full screen? What emulator version are you using?

I can run zoom 1x w/ the processor set to 333mhz and its 61fps.

You're not actually overclocking....you're just using the cpu to it's full potential.  Sony underclocked it to save battery life....you're just eating more battery is all :)

HMMMmmmmm..
An update on Sony Japan's website is warning U.S. PSP owners not to download and install the recently released Japanese 2.00 update.

Sony's Japanese PlayStation website is carrying a warning to all PSP owners outside of Japan.

The site reads: "CAUTION: This update is only for customers who obtained PSP for Japan which model number is PSP-1000 or PSP-1000 K. Upon completion of preparing, we will announce update information for the other countries/areas customers via SCE Group Web Site or other channels. For theses customers who obtained PSP in the other countries/areas, please DO NOT update PSP through this web site."

The U.S. version of the update will be released on Sony's U.S. PlayStation website in the coming weeks.

OMG that samsho pic is AWESOME!!!!

agreed, if I can play SamSho 2 on the PSP then . . . I'll actually take mine back out of its box
the PSP is not ergonomically freindly with 6 button fighters and I suffer from cramp in my left hand when trying to play Darkstalkers. I'm eagerly awaiting a KOF for the PSP but SamSho 2 would be bliss ! ! !

request, could someone please PM me or link me up with info on what I am going to need / what emu /what size memcard etc etc to do to get SamSho 2 running on my US 1.50 PSP.

I have the original NeoGeo Cd version of SamSho2 so I can rip all the files I need from that, since seeing the SamSho 3 running in the above picture I am really really itching to play SamSho 2 on my PSP now cos Darkstalkers aint doing a damn thing for me. this really is the only emulator I would want to run and its because I love SamSho 2 so much, okay playing it in a cab on a 1 slot is all fine n dandy, but having it on my PSP would be better than porn on the PSP

help a Ninja out guys

muell67 - does SamSho 2 play full speed with all sounds and BGM's ? ?
I'll pop out tommorrow and buy a decent size memory card, might aswell throw some MP3's on while I'm at it

cheers for the links !

not sure if samsho 2 will even work , I dont have that game. I would assume it does. shamsho3 works at full speed with all sounds as far as I can tell Im no expert on the game but nothing seems to be missing. In the emulator just set the processor speed to 333mhz. One last comment exit the game through the emulator menu before shutting off the psp if you dont it could erase your game file. Not a big deal you can just load it back on but if your on a trip like I was when I found this out its a real pain.

Do you guys play with the little thumbstick or the d-pad?  I don't have one, just playtested one and am curious.

Um..ok so I hear you can just run PSP games right off the memory card is that true ?? On psp 1.0 and 1.5.How does it work you just download whatever you want and put it on the memory card thats it ??

I dont have a psp yet but I might get it just for metal gear acid. How is that game anybody played yet ? And is there any link to psp sites(like xbox-scene for xbox). Thanks in advance 8)

you can run games off the memory card on a v1.0 & 1.5 you have to use a seperate program to get them to work on the v1.5. The website I go to is www.psphacker.com.
About Metal gear, I was going to buy it until I read that it was a card based game it sound boring but Ive never actually played it so I really cant say.

Read the reviews before you jump. MGA is a departure from the MGS style gameplay. It's still supposed to be awesome, but it's very different than the former MG titles. Gamespot has some videos with the game designers and stuff (here(ish)) (http://www.gamespot.com/psp/strategy/metalgearsolid/index.html?q=metal+gear+acid). It's a turn-based game now. I too have been planning on picking it up, but want to learn more about the gameplay before I plunk down my green.

An unrelated comment: I'm a little disappointed in how slow new titles have hit this platform, but to be honest, emulation has been the attractor for my PSP lately anyway.

Am i crazy? I can't understand the popularity over the PSP.

I enjoy games of all kinds but the PSP like all other handhelds graphicly speaking is just a step back compared to a home system.

Do we really need to not be without some sort of game play at all times?

edgedamage, i noticed you said it took forever to type in what u wrote. It got me thinking, seeing as we are all control minded here  :)
I cant recall the manufacturer, but perhaps the ps2 gamepad that has the mini keyboard on it, would make short work of typing. Im wondering if it would work out of the box or require some hacking in order for it to work? I guess the downside would be carrying around a gamepad with you, but could prove useful(again this is just speculation and theory on my part). I dont have a PSP yet either, im being a cheap bum waiting on a price drop possibly around xmas time  ;D

it might work but I guess sony might have something cooking regarding a keypad. I kinda wish they also had made the psp with touch screen functions.

If you spend alot of time traveling, they are great. Air travel sucks and the PSP is a great movie player/game player/MP3 player. But otherwise, I don't use mine much at home. And the graphics and sound are actually really good. It's kinda expensive, but what's not to like about it?
