Title: How to tell which codec an AVI uses?
Post by: Buddabing on July 25, 2005, 05:45:21 pm
I downloaded a TV show I want to watch but when I run Windows Media player it gives me a message that I don't have the right codec installed. It doesn't say what codec I need, though.

How do I tell what codec that AVI needs?

TIA,
Buddabing

EDIT: I just downloaded mplayer and it worked fine.

Well if you ever have this problem again, there is a handy program that identifies the codec used and tells you if it's installed.

GSPOT

Gspot works lovely - I've used it many a time...
