My daughter (4) and I were playing the simpsons and she really enjoyed it (she just moves the joystick and hits the button, while I do most of the work...we eat up a lot of quarters) :)
We then played spiderman and she wanted to be black cat and that one was pretty good because I just loaded up on credits for her and she didn't have to keep hitting the coin up button.
She seemed to really enjoy it and was talking quite a bit of trash to the bad guys :)
Are there any other decent "button mash" 2 player platform games with female characters similar to Simpsons/Spiderman? I thought Captain America was, but there were no female characters and she was disappointed. Suggestions?

Cadillacs and dinosaurs has a woman character but I'm thinking might be a bit graphic game for a 4 year old.
X-men had storm
alien storm - Had a female character
aleins vs predator had a female character too

Marky beat me posting X-men, but here's the rest of what I had to say in case it helps.
There's more, but I just can't think of them right now. Also, there are a few threads for games with young kids she may like, but I can't think of them right now either. Try the search and if I get a chance later I'll try to post the links to the ones I was thinking of.
Have you tried any of the more gender neutral games or does she definitely gravitate towards the female characters.

'Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon' has all female characters IIRC.

How about something without violence? Try Puzzle Bobble, Ms PacMan, etc. She's only 4...

without violence??
my daughter... at 4... was a crack shot on HOTD2 on dreamcast.
Don't underestimate the young... Sydney would take you out from across the room no prob!
... of course... my wife doesn't let us play gun games anymore ;(

Cadillacs and Dinasours.
Hook (Peter Pan adventure game)

Puzzle Bubble is the only game which can entertain 4 to 80 year old children. :)

thanks for the recommendations. We'll definitely have to try hook. Forgot about xmen too.

I definitely understand that opinion, but we're not really talking mortal combat here..it's more of Marge hitting a bad guy with a vacuum cleaner :) She sees worse on her cartoons. Heck in one Tom and Jerry cartoon, Tom gets beheaded (off camera of course).
And she's not coordinated enough for ms pacman...that's really why I needed the button mashers. She is pretty good at hamsterball though :)

If she likes trackball games, she may enjoy the one my 4 year old daughter is hooked on...
World Class Bowling Deluxe.
I know, sounds boring. All I know is my kids are addicted.
WCB is a shining example where the emulated arcade system plays MUCH BETTER than the dedicated PC port I had picked up at EBGames for $1 a while back.
