Title: ArcadeVGA and Indy 500 monitor?
Post by: captainpotato on July 24, 2005, 09:30:54 am
I'm looking at buying an old Indy 500 (1990s game) that has a 42" widescreen monitor. The machine doesn't have a PCB, so I thought that it could be fun to link up a PC to use MAME.

My question: does anybody know whether the monitor is likely to be usable with the ArcadeVGA card?

Doing some digging, it looks like the monitor is a medium resolution deal. The specs are:

                    MEDIUM RESOLUTION

          HORIZONTAL                    VERTICAL
Scan Frequency: 25.00 KHz    Scan Frequency: 60.0 Hz
Scan Period: 40.0

I just ordered the UVC but have not gotten it yet.  I have heard good things about it though.  Ponyboy has them for $200.  It ends up costing a little more than twice as much as an arcadevga.  Normally I would have just used advance mame but I wanted to be able to run a few other things on the monitor so this was the only option.
