Just acquired a 28" CRT Monitor from a guy on E-bay. He has 15 more of these he wants to sell. I have put my name down for 2 more.
Gonna build a base for this one to allowmyself to play MAME on it. I will then take the 'cabinet' down to CGE next month....

Great monitor, but how exactly do you plan on building a bartop out of that?
-
I'm very curious to see how this works out...
-
That's gonna be a big bartop.
Anyways, How much does he want for the monitors, and what type of connection do they use?
Also, where are you/he located?

Paid

Lookin' fine for a huge bartop project.

How much time do you spend actively searching?
ohhhh. maybe THATS why i havent picked up any bargains... :D
-
Yep, getting deals like that usually take a lot of legwork. the more places you look, the more calls you make, the more creative you get, the more often you'll find a deal like that.
Even then, it's not very often.

Just got to add the speaker grills now and then it's done.

It wont really be done until you make a marquee with it's appropriate name:
"The Hernia"

lol, good name.
I will post some pics of the cabinet being played at the CGEUK even ( www.cgeuk.com ) a week Saturday (August 13th).
I will also be building a small mini-cocktail cabinet throughout the day at the show - please come buy and say hello if you are attending ;D ;D
-
No hernia there, that's a bulging disc.
-
Where did you get the chrome T-molding?
-
www.t-molding.com ;D
-
Yeah that is a radical deal. I have a few questions, is the computer fitted into that base connected to the CP? Did you gut it or use a laptop? That thing looks awesome, I'm jealous.

See ya there, I'll be the one that looks like Jesus (http://scorpius.150m.com/master/smilie/hippy.gif)
Nice idea for a cab btw :)

There is enough room in the cabinet for a Dell GX1 computer (not gutted). What I will be using at the show tho will be my laptop. As well as playing games, I will be using the monitor to demo a preview of the DVD I 'may' make and also some of the content from my other project, the fanzine Retro Revival (www.retrorevival.co.uk).
Minwah, make sure u come and say hello at CGEUK m8.
Also check out an event I am arranging to hold in the UK which will take place in December, www.play4charity.co.uk .

It plays surprisingly well considering you are quite close to the screen. I did see a number of ppl actually take their glasses off at the show to play it tho ::) :P

I now have 5 more of these monitors stacked in two rows in my garage.....
Anyone want to see a picture of them?
;D ;D
-
I guess now all you have to do is find a bar sturdy enough to hold it up... :)
PS I cant believe you put it on that little coffee table with the wonky legs, I was expecting the next post to be of a very flat table...
