You wouldn't happen to know where to find another Nintendo cabinet, would you?

word, good luck on the conversion, if you're going to convert it to jamma and have any q's feel free to ask.  I converted my nintendo cab to jamma to use the j-pac,
http://versusmame.arcadecontrols.com/images/alldone.jpg
so I've got some experience in the field.
I found also that the laminate on the sides was a pain to get the bondo to work correctly, it doesn't truly set until you repaint it, so be careful after the bondos dry it doesn't pop out again.
  - good luck and keep us updated

No JAMMA here, it's going to become a Nintendo Vs. Unisystem cabinet.  My wife has requested that I build her a Super Mario Bros, and this was the easiest way.  Personally, I want a single monitor Playchoice 10, but I can't find a board.  The only ones I can find are the dual monitor ones.

The single monitor boards a super-rare. IIRC they only came with the countertop unit and the single monitor kit (which came out quite a while after most ops had already invested in the dedicated twin monitor ones).

Hey Eyedoc!

It looks like I'm going to be going with SMB in my DK cab (well, actually DK converted to VS SMB) as I found a board at a reasonable price. So, other than cosmetics, I'll have little to do.

Are you going to go with the DK/VS blue ? I'm not wild about the blue (my wife likes it) and am entertaining thoughts of the DK Jr. orange.

How are your coin mechs ? Mine are not great, so I've been looking for replacements. Have only found these so far:

Cheers.

Looking for a color? How about pink? After all, it's for a woman. Or pick one of the SMB base colors. It's probably only got 8. Maybe you can be the first person to put the new pink t-molding on a Nintendo cabinet.

Problem is that the Nintendo cabs need 9/16 t-molding ... I haven't found it in anything other than white.

Cheers.

You can trim any color after it's installed.

Yeah, I guess you can ... sometimes I miss the simplest things ...

haha sorry man, I became a ghost and now I'm alive again.  basically to make things short, I'm going into my third year as a computer science major, transferred to Central Washington University.  Programming takes over your life man, anyways I'll be back in the scene real soon here, I just got an Athlon XP 2400+ w/ 1 gig, a video card, and some other goods, so the mame machine will become a real beast (all it needs now is a TV)

oh yeah, and good luck on your nintendo cab :-D

Monitor is back and looks great, but no sound.  Popeye board works and I'll sell it.  Bondo is finished.  Now it's time to sand and repaint.

The sound board got skipped when the monitor was fixed.  I was more concerned about getting a picture than sound.  I just wanted to see if this Popeye board was working so I could sell it.  I actually just wired up an amp from a gutted pair of cheap computer speakers.  That works fine and the game has good sound.  If I don't get around to fixing the actual sound board, I'll just use this setup.

Popeye harness rewired to be a Vs main harness, new PSU installed (after discovering I have 3 dead ones on the shelf!), and the new CP installed.  I now have a fully-working Super Mario Brothers!

Now I just have to find time to make it pretty.  I still haven't painted it yet........

Have you learned nothing from this board? You have to make it pretty BEFORE it works! Otherwise, it'll never get done!  :)

Yeah, that's the problem....I always forget that part!  (Ironically, I was thinking about that when i started wiring it up.)

Oh well, looks like it NOW going to get converted to a PC-10 anyway!  :P

* Kinda Off Topic *
I just bought a semi-functional Vs. Cab and am going to "nicely" convert it to a Dreamcast based All-NES cab. The conversion will keep all original gear intact and in perfect working condition... but I really need a control panel that I can mess with. (I want to keep the original "original" as the cab is almost perfect.) I was thinking of having a buddy of mine build a replica in his auto-shop, but does anyone have a less-than-perfect CP for a single VS Unisystem that they'd be willing to part with?

Hey now!  No thread-jacking!  ;D

So all I've gotten around to doing is repainting the front of the cab and coin door.  I should be getting my PC-10 board next week.  One problem though.....I can't find a manual for a single-monitor PC-10!  I hope the wiring pinout I found is correct.......  :o

End result.  This cab went through an intermediate phase of being a fully-working SMB.  It's a project requested by my wife, so she gets to dictate the outcome!  Now it is a fully-working single-monitor Playchoice-10......that still looks like a Vs SMB.   ;D

Couple of more pics.....I replaced the one messed up white button I had on there with a new one.  BTW, those are the extra buttons for a PC-10 that are NOT included on the Vs. Unisystem harness (actually the only difference!).  I need labels, but I really hate doing that.

help

I was just informed Nintendo buttons (off a vs unisystem cab) are smaller than normal buttons.  Is this true? I want to keep my SMB cabinet as close to original as possible.  Does anyone know where I can purchase some buttons.
