ok first off, alot of folks from time to time inquire about stools, chairs, seats etc etc. This is here to centralize a place for links that you/we come across. Dont hijack the thread, please only post your link(s) and a brief description if you own said product. Thanks.

Here's one for you "hot heads". The good thing about Overstock.com is the $1 shipping on most items.
http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?page=proframe&prod_id=1431448
It's the same basic design as the one above, though not as well reinforced. It's $39.99, though.

Bought these at Linens & Things and used the 20% off coupon for each. Tax and all came right to $30. Wood stool is nice......... Took the pad off and am putting black upholstery on instead to match cab.
-
Overstock has a bunch, and there's $1.00 shipping right now- which saves a lot if you're getting 6 stools!

Some bar stools here for people in the UK

I have stools like this. They are a tad bit high though.
-
This is what I have, though I got mine on sale at shopko for $49.99 each. They also used to sell them at target. Pretty nice, but I'd probably look around some more if I had to do it over again.

Good quality height adjustable bar stool with foot rest for people in the UK
Linky (http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=20001&langId=-1&catalogId=3701&productId=140063)

I bought a drafting chair from staples.
# Pneumatic seat height adjusts from 21" to 31"
# Back features manual height and depth adjustment
# Adjustable chrome foot ring
Item No. 613471
My wife spent hours on it playing Centipede/Millipede. The adjustible height is a big plus. Much more comfortable than the Pep boys style stool we also have. It lists for $129. I think I had to pay about $100 combining some kind of a sale with a coupon. Unfortunatley the draftings stools are not discounted like the computer chairs. Seems like regular computer/office chair could be modified to make it taller.
-
Here's where I got mine. They're just like those in old 50's diners. They swivel and have a decent cushion (of course anything will hurt your rear after 3 hours of gaming). ;)
Enjoy.

For the Aussies:

I got these two stools at Super AMart Furniture. They cost me around AU$15 each at the time, although I don't think they sell them any more.
I'm 6'3" (188cm) and the tops of the stools are hip-height for me.
AMart website:
http://www.superamart.com/
Stool page:

The "Debbie" stool is now AU$39, which is far more than what I paid for mine. ???

My family has an account with a funiture manufacturing company and they sell barstools. I think I can get chrome barstools with black vinyl top for $19.00 each (my cost).
I am going to order a number of these and offer them to the BYOAC community. I cannot drop ship with the company unfortunately so I will offer them at 10% above my cost after shipping them to me. I 'm pretty sure I will be able to sell them for around $25-30 each. They come in 24" and 29"
This is what they look like: http://www.bar-stools-barstools.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=291
I am not sure if they swivel or if I can get them in different colors. I will find out more this weekend about total cost and colors.

That could be a really great deal, please keep us informed.
-
Oh man I do like those. I would order 2 right away. :)
-
I'd be in too. Keep in touch on this (and thanks for thinking of us)
-
Was kinda wondering if anyone knew were I could find stools with backs to them. Not just for me but my kids like to lean back alot. Red or black would be great with swivel seats. Not wooden as I have found quite a few so far. Look a bit old fashion. Also would prefur they didn't look all that much like computer chairs. The one they got over at HappControls looks good but can only imagine the cost with shipping from them. TY for any ideas were to look.
Kinda like this seat so far unless anyone knows of a seat better?
-
Got these at Ikea for under $15.00
Not the most comfortable things in the world but the price is right and the're stackable.
-
FYI ... I am also getting pricing on barstools with backs also. I am hoping to have pricing very very soon
-
clanggedin,
I'm totally interested in your bar stool deal, I'm not too far from you, would you allow local pickup to save on shipping?
The 2 ring stools you are getting look great, I am maybe interested in the ones with back rests depending on the price.
-
I have no problem with local pickup.. Better for me to not have to ship.
-
Don't have a pic or a link, but my Mom and sister got us two from a Super Center Wallmart. Swivel seat, nice back, sits very comfortably....they seem well made. I'll try and throw up pics later this week.
Mainstays Bronze finish swivel barstool
- Supplier /Model #G3AS-29 (this is number needed, I think);
Serial #001796858
As they were a gift, I have a feeling I wasn't supposed to know the price...but as it is on the sticker still, they were $24.98. Nice stools for the price! 29" high, very nice!

That's the one Alan - thanks for saving me time (boy, am I lazy)!
They actually have done very well so far and are VERY comfortable. I'm now VERY spoiled and could spend hours in front of my new machine!

These are the barstools I will be ordering shortly for my gameroom. They are fiberglass and chrome plated steel. The fiberglass has the metallic finish like you see on boats. Totally cool at $99 each or $199 for the egg shaped one with the back support. I've only been able to find these in catalogs, but local furniture stores have told me they can order them too. Note the matching bar tables too.
Geo
-
Just curious but what catalog is that you are showing?
-
The catalog is from a company named "Home Decorators Collection"
You can visit and shop their online site
http://www.homedecorators.com/index.php?ggkey=home_decorators&aid=gc.branded
The stools are from the Ventura collection, so search Ventura to get the stools, bar tables, they even have matching tv stands.
Thanks,
Geo
-
Not sure about over in the states, but the Ikea in Eindhoven and Herleen, NL both have "egg" style chairs
-
I got two of these for free, but really want to re-so the whole top into a nice THICK plush padding....maybe tan cordoroy or suede :)
I wish they were a bit taller...which is where the extra padding will come in. The person that gave them to me said they were $30 at pep boys or something like that.

clang,
Any word on your deal?
-
I, for one, think that TheRed has some pretty cool looking stools. I guess you could consider me biased though. I picked these up at Kragen (Auto parts chain) for around $25 or $30 ea.
Yes, they are still sitting in front of my bar and my cab is still just random thoughts and ideas in my head. Hopefully one day these will sit in front of a real cab ::)

Why is this thread a sticky ???
-
Heh. i've always wondered as much.
-
Why is this thread a sticky ???
Most likely because if you are building a cabinet you are probably also going to buy a couple of barstools to go with it. Personally I'm thankful for the thread. I'm going to buy 2 stools at some point and it's great to see different examples of what people are using.
I haven't decided exactly which type I want to get.
-
FYI... I picked up some 24" barstools from Wal-Mart for $10 each. They are just the perfect size for someo fo my cabs where others like my mame cab need a 29" stool.
Sorry, I'm such a lazy butt about getting pricing on the other bar stools. I am trying to work with the company to see if they will drop ship to cut down on costs.
-
This week, while looking at bars for my basement, I sat in a very comfortable wooden swivel barstool with a built in leather seat cushion and arms. I knew I had found the bar stools I wanted. Then the sales person told me they were on sale, even better! Then he told me the sales price was just at $1000 ...
I still need 4 bar stools.

Any weird stool design is good for sitting down or gaming. They may look nice but if they aren't comfortable then there is no purpose to sit on the stool since most gamers spend at least 30 minutes or more on a machine.

??? FTW? Thus far, I've deciphered that you think stools are good....and bad....or maybe not ::)
-
I bought a drafting chair
This is the thing to do, IMO. Regular bar stools get very uncomfortable very quickly. I went to a local used furniture store and paid a mere $50 for a Steelcase Criterion 453 series high-back stool. It isn't the model with arms (unfortunately) but this chair goes for nearly $1000 new -- we're talking high-grade neigh indestructable office furniture.
Just imagine the above chair with no arms. Features:
- Back height adjustment
- Seat angle adjustment
- Variable back stop
- Back tension adjustment
- 21.5"-diameter, hard composition, dual-wheel casters

I got these off eBay shipped to the UK from Germany ;D Have to be careful with the gas lift on them though, bit like ejector seats!

Just posted this in my gameroom/bar thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=47410.0), but these stools:
are $128 each at Lowe's right now, very comfortable for the price range (I couldn't stand any of the other stools we found in that price category), swivel, suede/brushed leather type of seats (though probably an artificial fabric in reality). They're discontinued, but if you hunt around at various Lowe's now you can probably still find them. Some Lowe's around me were sold out, others had 12 in stock. To get our 6 stools we ended up buying from 2 different stores.
Cheers!

I don't see these listed on the website, but I was in Wal-Mart yesterday, and they had this stool for $40-something. Just in black though. It's actually super-comfortable - kinda like sitting on a spring. The chair moves up and down, which may or may not suck for gaming, but it certainly wasn't uncomfortable.
They've also got quite a few other options if you're looking for something more subdued, although I'd see if you could pull their "wood" furniture apart and reassemble it with Gorilla Glue to make it last longer (hopefully :-\ )
-
I found some nice single ring chrome legs and black vinyl cusion top swivel top barstools at Sams Club for $20 each. They have been great so far. They don't have any stupid flames or checkers on the top, and they seem like very high quality stools.
I couldn't find them on samsclub.com, so I don't know if you'll have the same stools at your sams club, but it is worth a trip to check (they are a great height and nice and comfy). I will try to snap some pics when I get a chance.

Where do I get art work for stools? Would I go to a sign shop?

I really like these ! Can get them here in Holland too. How about connecting the gas lifts to your cab ? There's a couple of games I can thing off that could control it :P

Very happy with my Target red/chrome stools. They were quite reasonably priced, very well made and sturdy and the shipping was quick. (never seen them in a store though) BTW Target online has over 400 matches for bar stools....

For $66 (shipped) you can get 30" chrome double ringed stools here...
http://www.bar-stools-barstools.com/scripts/prodview.asp?idProduct=58
I got a pair and paid a few bucks extra for the Floridian Blue tops. Absolutely love them.
They also have 27" stools for a good price.
-
Sometime, very rarely you get lucky and find what you've been looking for for quite some time. None of the stools I've seen around here in Holland were exactly what I was looking for. I wanted polstered stools with a back and preferably chrome. Most of the stools I've tried didn't offer the sitting comort needed. Most of them didn't have the build quality.
Whilst collecting old-stuff for a fancy fair/garage sale (don't know the right word) for my marching band we got to an older man's house and there they were: one pair of my absolute dream stools ! He offered them for the fair so I tried to act not too excited about them.
So we loaded them up, took them to clubhouse and I bougth them right away....had to negotiate about price a bit since they knew I wanted them very much, but we agreed on
-
Ah, yeah great, this thread has been a sticky for ages and now that I posted the most FANTASTIC stools-ever, it gets un-stickied ;)
Just letting know the cushions are being refurbished with new (real !) red black leather right now. I'll post pictures of the results as soon as possible....
-
FINALY the cushions have been refurbished with real black nice leather.....
I LOVE them :D
Took some pics with and without flash.
They ended not being cheap though....cushion refurbishment was
-
Those are tight. Nice job!
-
Worth spending money on good bar stools I think!
-
Thanks guys,
Well real furniture leather is simply not cheap. I was lucky that my wife's cousin has a business repairing leather clothing etc. and also he is the official repair workplace for Delsey and Samsonite here in Holland, so he knows his stuff. He did a very nice job and I got a great deal on the price...
Considering how many hours they will be used money VERY well invested IMHO. Those stools are unique, I think they're from around the 70's/80's but they are vere classy. I'm sooo lucky I found these :)
-
Since this topic has been brought back up, if you have a Big Lots closeout store around you they might have those flame topped stools for $19 each there. My Big Lots has them. ;D
-
I have this 70's style stool that I'll be covering in silver-grey gorilla fur. Pics to come...
-
Yes, I know noone has posted here in a long time, but ...
for anyone in/around Minneapolis, if you get a chance, check out Hockenburgs (http://www.hockenbergs.com/orders.asp?Category=FURNITURE+%26+FURNISHINGS). Unfortunately, they do not have pictures of the items on their web site (duh), but they have single (about $40) and double (about $48) ringed barstools just like I used to play on at the local arcade. Not too bad of a price (but also probably not the best) if you're local.
-
Wal-Mart has started carrying some decent bar stools lately, though usually only in the Super Wal-Marts (the regular ones just have one or two styles, supers have like 5-10). I got two regular stools and two fold out ones for about $60 total.
-
I also found some stylish bar stools from this link:

Here's a bar stool for anyone considering a "TractorCade" themed project....for that firm controlled ride. :P
The funny thing about these is that there is a 'TractorCade' here in Iowa every summer. Only it refers to a Parade of some 300+ Tractors around the countryside covering 3-4 days. http://www.wmtradio.com/cc-common/mainheadlines2.html?feed=119017&article=383544 (http://www.wmtradio.com/cc-common/mainheadlines2.html?feed=119017&article=383544)

Those who like the space age hydraulic chairs mentioned above can also get them for as little as $49 at Target! Styles "Elise" and "Maddock" are equally Jetsons for anyone who (like me) has retro-futuristic tendencies.
http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-23/qid=1177349895/ref=sr_1_23/601-2668460-2058526?ie=UTF8&asin=B000FHF77O
I got mine at a billiard store for $99 but luckily had a $100 gift card.
-
Forgot about this thread...
Although they're a little "modern" styled for our house, I'm very happy with these ones (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-20/qid=1177355953/ref=sr_1_20/602-0775349-6297403?ie=UTF8&asin=B000EBBUY0) I bought from Target a while back. The adjustable height is nice for guests of all sizes.

Maybe you could build a stool. Forum member JONTHEBOMB did but he said it was hard. Like worse than building a cab from scratch. Turned out nice though. Plus he was only 18 when he did it...

That's the one I use. I bought it from a yard sale for $10. Comfortable and the height is adjustable.
