Title: Help with wiring marquee light
Post by: u48989 on July 17, 2005, 05:53:27 pm
I am planning on using the original marquee light setup for a cabinet I am modifying.

Probably....

What voltage did the original wires run to?

Is that fuse rated for 120v?

The fuse is rated for 250 V.  If it helps, when I got the arcade, it still had the original power supply, but I threw it away when I first started this.

I'm sure you'll be fine just splicing an electrical cord with plug to that and pluggin it in to power strip or other power outlet source....

I just took out the original marquee light fixture in mine and junked it. I didn't know if it was any good and it looked like might have been missing some parts anyway. I bought a cheap flourcent battery operated light at Wal-Mart. It was 12 volt, so I just bypassed the battery compartment and wired it directly to the 12 volt leads on the PC's power supply. That way the marquee comes on when the PC powers up.

At first glance, it looks pretty typical for a fluor. light...

Assuming its 120v, power in to the plug in the lower left of your pic -should- light it up.

Theres a schematic thats very similar here...

About 1/3 way down the page, search for "Wiring for preheat fluorescent fixtures" - that should take you right there.
