I'm afraid it isn't arcade related. The wallpaper is asuka from end of evangelion. These threads are always really long and pointless. But at the same time, I like seeing what other people's desktop look like -- especially the really neat customized ones.

I change mine too often to post a screenshot, but the reason is I go to Astronomy Picture of the Day (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html) and if it's a pic I like I'll set it as my desktop until I get to the next one I like.

You mean last week? Yeah, my powers of recollection are astonishing.
This has been my desktop on my desktop and laptop for a long time.

I do a tiny bit of VERY amature photography and tend to use my own pictures as backgrounds so they change pretty frequently. Here's my current desktop. I also hate having icons on my desktop and never put anything there permanently. Love the quick launch.

Interesting photo. I hope your interest in photography is with a traditional SLR & film.
Digital for me just don't cut it. There is no romance.....

here's mine.
That's a great picture! I have models of all four of those ships in my office (yes I'm a confirmed geek) that I build. If you would, please email that pic to me. :)

I have a pretty nice 35mm SLR, but take most my pictures with a Canon SD400 point and shoot because it's so damn small, can take a succession of pictures nearly as fast as my SLR, and can store a couple hundred pictures on the memory card at any given time. It's size allows me to have it with me nearly all the time. There's no question that the SLR takes superior pictures, but it's far too big to just carry around all the time. I only take the SLR somewhere when I KNOW that I'm going to be shooting pictures, and even then sometimes the size will get it left home.
What I really miss when it comes to switching to digital photography is how much fun a darkroom is. Sure, the results might be the same, or even better with a nice digital SLR and Photoshop, but for the experience Photoshop is a poor replacement for a darkroom.

Do you take any *wink wink nudge nudge* candid photography... know what i mean know waht I mean? snap snap *wink wink nudge nudge* Man of the world, eh?

I usually have something "arty" on my desktop, but I've got a new car on order and I'm trying to keep myself excited about it, in the face of having new payments.
It's not the color I'm getting...I ordered it in "Black Cherry", so it looks even "gayer!"

Scion...
/me shudders
-
What in hell IS a Scion? I initially thought it was a Toyota Scion - because they look like somethin Toyota would make. But now that I'm seeing more of them I'm starting to think it's a Scion...um....Scion. Is it a car company with only one model of car? If so, are you getting a Scion Scion, or just a Scion ________?

Are you talking about the pictures I take when I'm laying on my living room floor naked, rubbing honey all over myself......or something else?

It's a car company under Toyota's corporate umbrella. Just like say... Chevy or Cadillac is a "seperate" car company under General Motor's wings.
Scion is supposed to be the no-nonsense pricing, hip, urban car company that every young adult wants to buy, and every frugal car buyer will look towards because of the Toyota reliability and "no haggle" pricing.
Too bad 2 of their 3 vehicles look like total ass IMHO. And they have 3 models currently... th tC is their car, the xA is what is posted above, and the xB is their box on wheels.

It's a Toyota. It's basically an Echo with "hipper" styling. For $12,600 MSRP, with Air, Power everything, and a Toyota build...you can't go wrong IMHO. It's the poor man's MINI. :P

Frugal and "hip"...that's me! (Ok, maybe cheap poser is closer to the truth)...I did also enjoy the PruePrice(tm) thingy...anything that makes the dealer pissed off about selling a car is A-OK with me. They hated dealing with it since their commission is crap on the Scion line.

The tC is a modders toy, pretty much the whole line is really. The tC the "sportier" of the three models. The xB is "The Box" and the xA is "The Egg." For me, I HATED the xB when I first saw it, hell, maybe the first couple of time I saw it. But after getting in one and seeing it up close I can totally appreciate it for what it is. A ghetto-box on wheels...lots of modding possibilities, great for high-schoolers who want room, but don't want a mini-van (ick...uncool!), and don't have rich parents.
I needed a cheap car and fell in love with the xA. You can really trick these things out.

Poor man's mini. Heh, considering the original mini was an economy car....
FYI, yes, Scion is Toyota. Just like Lexus is Toyota. It's a marketting thing. The US in general thinks of japanese cars as either economy cars (like the toyota corolla/tercel, nissan sentra, mazda protoge) that are rather boring or decent family cars like the toyota camry, nissan altima, madza6. Most people don't think luxary, sports, or tuning when it comes to those except for Honda Civic and Accord since there are a billion aftermarket parts for those. Granted this is a perspective in the US. All over the world they have different images. Such as the Acura NSX is known as the Honda NSX everywhere else. The Lexus IS300 is a Toyota Altezza everywhere else.
Obvioously there are a few exceptions, like the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, Toyota Supra and Mazda RX7/8 have made there way over here as a pretty decent sports car. But you don't see something like the Nissan Skyline over here unless it has been imported. You also don't see anything like the Toyota Celica GT4, except now that rally racers have become a little popular and we now have the Suburu WRX STi and Mitsubishi Evo.
Personally I'd love to see some european cars come over here but not in a chevy or ford shell. I'd love a Peugot 306 with WRC body kit and Opel Speedster. Glad to see Lotus bringing the Elise over here with a Toyota Celica powerplant :)
In the US you mainly think Ford, Chevy, Dodge. Toyota and Honda have been doing a pretty damn good job of taking the market as accord and camry are the number one and two selling cars. But outside of those names we don't see much. In fact, since Ford, GM, and Daimler Chrysler own most of the car companies (look at their corporate websites), anything one of them thinks might work well in the US that they are selling elsewhere will come over here but under a current well known US name, like Ford, Pontiac, Chevy, Dodge.

No one should ever "trick out" a Scion... sorry. They seem decent for what they are, and are undeniably a decent deal seeing as they apparently are just as reliable as any other Toyota.
I just hate the "factory rice" options that they give you. That is beyond absurd. It's just like every other Tuner on the road with a carbon fiber hood which turns it into a race car. I know WHY they market it that way.. hell that's why they are selling so well... it just angers me to no end though heh.
When the TRD supercharger comes out for the tC.. then maybe it'll be worth it's marketing hype...
