Has anyone put their name on this list and STILL gotten calls from telemarketers?
I put my numbers on it about 6 months ago, and Every now and then, I still get the occasional call. The instant I have to say hello twice, and someone answers the second time, I hang up. The thing is, now I get someone who's called three times looking for my parents, and each time I tell them they arn't home, they actually call back again the next day..
Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them..

I put my number in and the calls died down. Weird thing is, I get more junk faxes. So I've been fighting these people with the help of http://www.junkfaxes.org/
There are a few loopholes these telemarketers can use to get to you, but you should see less of them now that you are in the registry. I don't think they'll ever disappear completely.

You sure they're telemarketers? Could be bill collectors. We don't have anything outstanding, and for a month they kept calling us, a recording stating to call another number.
Yeah, right...if we're really that important, have a human call us.

I don't get any telemarketer calls........
of course I never answer the phone either, answering the phone is woman's work
and I never give out my number for those sweepstakes, who has it writen in fine print, that in signing up for their promotional give-away you are also allowing them to sell your number to their "partners" who also have good deals for you (telemarketers)

Glad to see I'm not the only who feels that way about those kinds of calls!
Does it cost you guys for caller ID in your area? Since getting it, I've gotten exactly 4 calls before figuring out how it shows up and teaching everyone what calls NOT to answer.
Hanging up only saves them time. Leave the phone sit there after answering and realizing it's a telemarketer.

Depends on how my day was. If I feel really bad I take it as an invitation to tell them what a loser they are for having that job and anything else I can think of at the time. Otherwise caller ID has prevented them from getting to me. It's important to know who they are first, before you do anything mean though. My mom and I get calls from the red cross non-stop because we donate "the good blood". They sound just like telemarketers at first. Even taking the slightest harsh tone with a red cross volunteer, makes you feel like the biggest @sshole on the planet.

That's so funny you say that! My buddy has the same issue, and he even feels bad when he looks at the caller ID and doesn't answer the phone when the Red Cross calls! They don't call me at all. I suppose having a black heart gives me the "bad blood" ;D
You guys and your "can be used by ANY type" blood....phegh! Snobs! ;)

We still get calls maybe twice a day, but when we pick them up, no one is there. Now we just hang them up when they ring.

Ya dude, if they are asking for your parents (by name), then it is most likely bill collectors which are not telemarketers and technically have every right to call you every 10 minutes if they wanted to.
Personally we rarely got calls from telemarketers ??? And it made me sad! I loved to mess with them, if they would say something like "we have a great offer for you" I would freak out worse than a teenage girl meeting the backstreet boys, I'd be like "omg, omg, omg, this is to much, I can't believe this is happening to me, that is absolutely amazing, etc, etc...." Or another fun one is to put them on hold, ask them if they can hold on a minute and then just set the phone down and either not come back to it or come back every few minutes and say can you hold a second until they hang up. Or another one of my favorites was after they go through the long spill that is so fast and rehearsed you can't get a word in, say something like, "hmm sounds interesting, run that by me one more time, and then set the phone down or on speaker phone while they go through it again, when it gets quite, pick it back up and ask if they can explain other benefits etc... just keep stringing them along making it sound like you are interested and then at the end act like you didn't hear them mention the cost and be like "wait, this isn't free, nevermind" and hang up!

One trick the telemarketers use goes something like this:
Company "Phone" is a telemarketing service.
Company "Roofers", "Vacations", and "Realtor" sign with them to drum up business.
"Phone" calls you and asks if you need roof work. You say no and ask to be put on their do not call list. They tell you that they won't call you back about a roof.
The next day "Phone" calls to talk about vacations... >:(
The next day "Phone" calls to talk about real estate... etc. etc.
Tell them you don't want ANY calls for ANY reason and ask what company they work for. You'll get a total runaround. It's all a joke to them, registry or not. My best advice is to speak real softly. When they turn their headsets up, try to take out their eardrums. :angel:
I always get a kick out of it when they comment on my language. My standard response is: "Then stop calling you stupid <insert "C" word>". I use it whether the caller is a guy or girl. Sometimes I like when they call. It helps me blow off steam. If they don't treat this stuff seriously, why should I?

I really dislike the exceptions that were granted from the DNC list. Charities, political groups, and research groups are still allowed to call you. Personally, these are the three groups I least want to hear from.
I seek out the charities to which I want to give. The ones that call me unprompted don't get a penny, and I explain why.
I don't belong to any political parties, and don't plan to. So don't call me.
As for research groups, these are the ones I hate the most. I don't want to answer your survey even if it does only take five minutes, and I especially don't want to watch your TV pilot!

The only advertising phone calls I have EVER gotten at any number belonging to me were from Superauctions.

I don't get telemarketers, I get pollsters.
I tell them to take my name off the list. I don't do polls.
I never put my name in for any contests either. I think that's where most of them originated.

I've done a few polls before and just gave off the wall answers.
I remember one was asking about my eating habits, they asked questions like how many sodas would you say you drink in a day, etc... and I would just give answers like 356, and another asked me what beverage did I consume the most I said 10W30. He actually ended the survey after a few questions
