i'm toying with the idea of putting a jukebox in my game room. space is at a premium so i would want it to be super small.
anyone know if you can make real small mp3 jukeboxes?? and are there any examples/plans available??
-
I've seen tons of people carrying around little white ones about the size of a deck of cards ;)
But seriously, you can go about as small as you want. If you use an ITX-size PC and a Lilliput touchscreen monitor you can easily build one the size of a hardcover book.

Since the jukebox will be in your game room, I would think all you need is a touch screen monitor mounted into a wall (maybe the wall of a closet) and have all of the computer stuff and speakers wire connections hidden behind the wall .....
basically, all you would see is the touch screen monitor and then you can simply mount speakers around your room........

Mameroom.com have a decent-looking wall-mounted idea that you could use as inspiration for your own. :) It doesn't seem to take up much room, but then again I haven't built one yet. :)

I just put the finishing touches on this one. Maybe you can use it for inspiration. As Effayy noted, I used the design at Mameroom for inspiration but I think it's smaller than that. It's about 26 inches wide by about 36 inches high and about 10 inches deep at the deepest point.

Mine is just about done (see here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=36948.0
Its funny--I hadn't seen the mameroom.com ones until just now and mine looks alot like it--function dictates design I guess. Its about 2' high by 18" wide by 9" deep at the bottom--it was made to be portable so i can haul it from the front porch to the back porch without too much effort.

Were you speaking to me? I don't want to assume but if you were, the only pictures I have are posted in this thread that documents construction...

Bumble - Thanks for the reply.

Bumble - Thanks for the reply. I love the looks of your design, If you have any notes, templates, etc, I would totally appreciate it if you would share them ;D
Thanks Dave
This is what I was working from.. Created in Visio 2000, exported to PNG to post here. Dissect at your leisure. For reference, the material is 3/4" MDF.
Enjoy

Edit: The post image size doesn't do this graphic justice. If you want to really see what it looks like, save it to your PC and open it. It looks much better at full size.

Wow and thank you!!!!!

You can buy one of them small wurlitzer cd jukeboxes (the 30cm or so one) and put a 7" lilliput/xenarc touchscreen in the face and use a mini itx for the PC.
I was gonna do this but the bubble tube broke on mine so i got a refund
-
Can you post a link to one of the small Wurlitzer CD jukeboxes? For the life of me I can not picture one.

the small thing with the song lists and buttons actually flips down for the CD
u can fit a 7" lilliput touchscreen in there and there is enough space for a mini itx in there and one of them 2.1 sound systems u get for the pc.
You can buy one thats 5ft and holds 100 cds which would be cool to hack up :D
But this mini 1 i posted actually have the lights and the bubble tubes :)

ipod micro ;D
-
doesn't count u can't MAKE it altho u can add a 200gb HD to an ipod micro which could let it be the smallest jukebox u can MAKE ::)

I have one of those USB drives that plays mp3's also. Does this count? ;)
