Title: A-PAC seen as G-PAC?
Post by: grueinthebox on July 16, 2005, 01:41:07 pm
I have an A-Pac (chip is labeled v1.1) that I've been trying to get working with the controls in my Hang-On machine, which utilizes 3 5k pots (steering, throttle, brake). In testing the A-Pac, it works fine with digital controls, but I can't seem to get it working with the analog. I'm using the correct cap for the 5k pots, and everything is wired as illustrated on the Ultimarc site (not much to it).

In Windows XP (on two different machines), it's seen not as an "A-Pac", but as a "G-Pac"... I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this before, and if it could be the cause of my woes. I notice that the configuration screenshots on the Ultimarc site clearly show it as "A-PAC"...

Best to e-mail Andy directly on this one.

Yeah, I went ahead and did that...  I bought this secondhand, and while it did come from a reputable, knowledgable seller around here, I'm wondering if at some point in it's life someone might have reflashed the chip with alternate code or something (if that's possible with these).  Hopefully if it's something like that I'll be able to reflash it with some original code...  If not, I'll just pick up a new one, and this'll be fine for a more conventional (joy/button) project down the road - it's basically an I-Pac2 at this point.

Actually, it sounds like it's basically a GP-Wiz at this point - i.e. a gamepad encoder rather than keyboard.

I wonder, purely speculation, if there was an early version of the board designated G-PAC which did not incorporate the analog functions.
