Title: EZ Arcade Solutions - EZMount Arcade Spinner II
Post by: pocketpal on July 16, 2005, 12:11:45 pm
I am figuring up pricing for a buddy of mine in the interest of building his own standalone control panel.  Since Oscar Controls is closed down indefinitely AFAIK, and the cost of a SlikStik Tornado would probably make him do a double spit-take (although that's what I went with, and I don't regret it for a second  ;) ), I have had to seek out other affordable spinner solutions.  I found one on eBay that I hadn't seen before, and followed this link to their website:

Is anyone familiar with or have one of these spinners?  What other options are available?

On a side note, simply swapping the knob for a steering wheel sounds like a darn fine idea.

:-[  I would like to say that I *DID* perform some extensive (or so I thought) searches in the forum before starting a new thread, but as that thread makes no mention whatsoever of the company or product name, and even the URL to the vendor's website is different, I got zero applicable results.

So, it sounds like a decent enough spinner as long as you don't mind a short spin time.  I know my buddy is a big Tempest fan (Jaguar owner  :o), however, so that could be the deal-breaker.

Nope-other than seeing them on E-bay.

The Nasty used to be selling a HD modified spinner.

http://www.cheeptech.com/cuspin.html (don't think they're still for sale).

http://arcadecontrols.com/files/Miscellaneous/spinner.pdf (plans for above)

Thanks for the list of alternatives.  I neglected to mention that my buddy has an iMac (the most recent style), and I intend to use a Mini-Pac for the encoder, so either USB or something that can be wired direct is the only option.  As for building one from scratch?  I think he has neither the interest nor the skills, and I'm certainly not gonna fool with it.   ;D
