My new aquisition (Juno First) used a vertical shelf-mount monitor. I hear they are rare. Is it even possible to buy a new one in this configuration? I'm just trying to avoid hacking in new rails.

Nope, they don't make 'em anymore. :-( We do have a monitor that may work for you. We have a custom frame we use on our Nintendo Replacement monitors. Take a look-see here and let me know. We can mount a 19" Happ monitor in them, but I'll have to work out a price if you need one. I believe I can do one for about $250. The shelf on it is as wide as a standard shelf mount monitor, but the mounting holes use the Nintendo bolt pattern.

Another option, is to just transplant a new monitor into your existing frame. I've done this before and it works fine.

Just build a frame out of particle board, MDF or plywood. Use the center cutout for the tube , cut diagonally and use as the sides to support the chassis.
I've done this a couple times and with large bolts and washers it holds fine.
