Well, I am new to the forums and new to arcade building, so I just wanted to say hi first. This site seems like an awesome resource, so I thought I would join. But now straight to business ;D. I pretty much tried to teach myself Illustrator so that I could design my own CPO and Marquee (and later a monitor bezel). I have some finished concepts that I would love comments on. The actual copies are hi-res, but right now I'm hosting them at photobucket so the quality is crap. Just ignore that and take a look. Thanks everyone!

I'm no artist but i like what you have done.
I like the purple outlining, and the player 1 and player 2 text....
the male genitalia above P1 joystick is a little disconcerting

I've noticed the name is Lunarcade, but the marquee has a big earth and small moon. I was thinking it might look more correct the other way around.

where is that marquee background image from?
looks good!

Thanks for the input people! The apparent "genitalia" used to look much worse... but, I can't seem to find a better way to lay those buttons out (menu controls etc.) I might try switching the moon and earth, but i think the moon picture was too small, so I will have to double check it. As far as the marquee, I basically made the background in photoshop by using a simple starfield tutorial (google it), then overlayed some transparent blue clouds. The moon and earth are hi-res pictures from a certain major space program's website ;). I added some glows and changed some colors and that's about it. Anyways, I will try to incorporate the suggestions when I have some free time. Thanks again!

If you could move the controls forward, you could then put the

I like what you have done with your marquee and cp overlay. It is an original piece of work and that is what matters most when building your arcade to me. As far as the 4 buttons at the top by the player 1 start and coin buttons, what if you use just 3 buttons instead of 4 and put the 4th button on the left side of the CP?

Okay, I switched the moon and earth and got rid of a lot of the glow effect. It seems to look a little more realistic I think. For the CP, I can't really move the buttons very far. With the way my cabinet is designed, the controls can't move outside of the joysticks or below the trackball. Do the buttons look okay rearranged? Or does the placement really not look good? Thanks again people!

With those admin buttons so tight together and so close to the edge I don't think you'll be able to get the nuts on them. Mock that up on cardboard before you commit to it...
