Hello everybody! This is my first post. I have searched through the forums, but cannot find an answer to my problem.
I have an A.L.S. Marketing (same as Pentranic) model #1425 25" arcade monitor. I have hooked it up to my ArcadeVGA card, and everything works great, except the screen width is a little too large -- even with the H-Width knob on the control panel turned all the way down. Is there some other way to adjust this? If not, am I hurting the monitor by running it this way?

OT: Isn't ALS the maker of all of those old days videogame cartridge storage wall racks and trays? -- The one with the weird bird as the logo? I didn't know they licenced monitors as well?
Back on topic: You probably have to adjust the horizontal scan rate on your video card. If you were using AdvanceMame, you can do all of that in the config program. I havn't ever used the ArcadeVGA card, but presume they have some tweaking software to adjust the scan rates to fit within your monitor's range.
Otherwise you may (also?) need a cap kit, but usually that causes too little horizontal width.

I have a sneaking suspicion that they are not related.... ::)
As for the tweaking program, I can't find anything like that available for, or that came with, the ArcadeVGA card. I should also mention that this is a brand new monitor, so I don't believe a cap kit is in order. I was expecting that there is probably some adjustment on one of the PCB's. Although I don't see anything obvious, there are several adjustment-looking things that are not clearly marked.

Check the main pcb for a standard width coil.
It will probally have a coil in addition to the remote adjustment.

Yeah, thanks dabone! I had wondered about that, but it wasn't labeled, and I had no idea if I had any business messing with it. I ran the Nokia test, adjusted the coil, and that took care of my width issue. Then I noticed the circles in the top two corners of the test image were perfectly round looking, but the bottom ones were tall ovals. I knew there was a V-LINES pot on the main pcb which I had never messed with, so I turned that (along with altering V-POS and V-SIZE on the control panel) until they were all round. Now when playing games, I notice that the very top (an inch or so) of the screen is darker than the rest. I hadn't ever noticed that before, so I wonder if I just introduced that problem....?
Sorry for being such a pain....this monitor stuff is just one thing after another. :-\
