Title: Happ buttons common ground
Post by: tkuper05 on July 11, 2005, 06:22:57 pm
Ok, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to electronics.  I have some Happ's microswitch buttons.  There are 3 terminals, 2 for the switch and one for the common ground.  I hacked a gamepad and that's where my buttons are going to be run from.  Do I piggy back all the common grounds for all the buttons then connect that to the common ground on the gamepad?

yup.  Most peopel will make a ground loop using all the COM posts on the buttons and the encoder or gamepad ground.

Yeah, that's something I would change about my panel if I had it to do over again.  I wired all of my grounds separately to ease in troubleshooting, but I've never had a problem with my panel so I haven't had to do any troubleshooting.  But I'm not complaining about that, either!   :)
