Title: Need some guidance setting up pc wheel for use with MAME

I'm trying to setup a Microsoft Sidewinder wheel, gameport version, to use on my cab.
The problem is that when I try and remap the controls MAME will see the wheel and buttons but not the pedals.   
The Windows game controllers applet sees the wheel, buttons, and all axis of the pedals.
Any help is appreciated.

I resolved the issue by upgrading to MAME .98
There must have been some change in the code because the older version I was using just wouldn't work, .98 was fine right out of the box.
