Title: Finally got the Betson setup and have a couple issues
Post by: Brewser on July 09, 2005, 01:14:43 pm
I finally got my Betson imperial setup and it looks great. The only problems are a little red tint on the bottom left corner that degause can not get rid of.
The other is a high spot on the top left side. It almost looks like a wave and the picture goes up a few pixels. It's not that bad and something I will probably have to live with. I called Betson and he said there was not an adjustment to fix this since the rotation doesn't work on these monitors. I would either have to send it back or he could walk me through moving an internal part (fly, yoke, or something that needs to be twisted just a hair), which I don't feel comfortable doing. I wish it wasn't there, but it doesn't really affect playing. I suppose I really could call a local TV guy to come out and fix this since sending the monitor back and paying $200 for shipping both ways doesn't sound exciting.
Just curious if others have the same issues.
Thanks

I just noticed that when you have all the lights out and play a game like asteroids the left side that I mentioned was higher now has a lighter shade of black strip running down the left side. My first reaction is sometimes when you over adjust the horizontal from left to right you can get an overlap and will do this, but in this case I moved the horizontal control all the way to the left and it did overlap, so it is not that.
This strip runs about 1/4 of the monitor on the left.
Anyone know what would cause this?

Do a search in the monitor forum for Betson and you will find a long thread on the geometery issues.  In short, 15khz has some things that just can't be fixed (squished sides), but higher res modes like 640x480 are fine.

As for the red spot, try moving your cab away from the wall, and/or turn it 90 degrees to see if that takes care of it.  If still there, then possibly something inside the cab (like a speaker) is causing magnetic interference.
