dude i wish i had bacon, it sucks it rained last night and my windows were cracked and my leather seats were all soaked in my car so i ran out there with a towel, while its still pouring and wiped off the seat before i sat in it, and i was late anyway so i couldnt get coffee and im hungry!! bah!

Which reminds me of what to me is a funny story.....I'll try and tell the short version.
In my history I worked as VP Operations for a data processing service company. We ran a 24/7 shop. I managed lots of college aged computer operators. I had worked my way up from being the first original computer op for this company when it first started, done my fair share of 3rd shift through college, then manager, etc etc.
I show up on a Saturday a.m. early to check things out from the night before (as I typically did). Daytime operator had not showed up to to relieve 3rd shift from the night before. I sent that guy home and started calling the person that was to be working the a.m. day shift. He was sleeping. He lived about 10 minutes away tops.
Almost 2 hours goes by before he shows up. He comes waltzing in with a little bag from Whataburger, couple of breakfast taquitos, orange juice, hash browns.
He smiles and calmly starts to set out his breakfast. I calmly ask why on earth would he think it a good idea to take time to stop for breakfast when he is now almost 3 hours late for his shift. He indicated he was "hungry".
I responded with....
Hhmmm, I understand. Well, I've been doing your job for the last 3 hours anticipating your arrival. I haven't had breakfast either. Do you know what the fee is for being late this morning?
"No, what's that?"
My response "Two Taquitos!" and I snatched them up and ate them in front of him.
He got the message.

I figure that once your allready late, getting in a rush isn't going to make you on time and besides your allready in trouble for being late might as well make the best of it and take your time 8)

well actually my boss is really laid back im late by 5-10 min at least once a week, it was mainly i didnt feel like getting out of my car in the pouring rain to get food and i was tired =p

Harsh? Sitting down, smiling at someone you've obviously screwed over, laying out your breakfast, and appearing not to care one whit in the world I wish I could live in would net you, in no particular order, the following:
- My shoe becoming lodged in your ass
- Your smile/smirk being knocked off your face and into next week
- Your taquitos being half-eaten, both other halves thrown in the trash because "these suck, how can you eat these things?"
- A recording of Donald Trump telling you "Youah fyahd"
- Balling up my fist, whacking him in the nose, and then telling him "That smarts, doesn't it? Getting slammed in the nose. Effs you all up. You get that pain shootin' through your brain, your eyes fill up with water. That ain't any kind of fun, but what I have to offer you, that's as good as it's gonna get. And it won't ever get that good again."
- Before grabbing him by the back of the shorts to physically toss him out, the wedgie card would get played
- Physically tossing him out on his ear
Not only did he NOT "rush", he took his sweet time, and then, in "making the best of it", rubbed it in that he screwed him over. That's way above and beyond the line, and unfortunately, it wasn't me and him in my alternate world.

We had a guy that did stuff like that for awhile where I work. This was back when Diablo 2 just came out, and he would stay up all night playing then over sleep the next morning by several hours. He lived 2 miles away from work.
So me and the other network admin started taking turns knocking a WAN router offline from home on the weekend after he was late. Since he lived so close he would be called into check it out, and seeing that the router was down he would have to go to the outlying depot (he didn't have access rights to telnet into the router). We have 8 depots across 5 states anywhere from 1-5 hours away. We would give him enough time to start to the depot and then bring the routers back up so when he got there all was fine. We started with the closest depot, but the last time we did it we made sure he got a good dose of windshield time.
Either he caught on and started getting to work on time or quit playing Diablo. Either way we got him about 3 or 4 times.
And no it did no harm to our business our WAN connections are mainly used for email or files sharing,and since it was the weekend no one was there to be bothered by the brief outage. I would bet my boss would have said different though.....
