Hi,
I've been running MAMEWAH for about a year now, and love it. I was wondering if there was a way to disable the function of the "escape" button once you exit a game.
Basically, I want to avoid someone hitting the escape button within MAMEWAH, and going to the desktop.
I read the readme and the controller info and didn't see anything on this.
Any info is truly appreciated.
Thanks.

You can remap the escape key to a different key in mame.

Hey,
Thanks Qbert, but I was hoping to be able to find a way to change it in MAMEWAH, because i'm running several emulators other than MAME, and some are hacked to exit with the escape key.
So, I was hoping to find a way to disable the escape key in MAMEWAH itself. Impossible?

In your Mamewah folder, you should have a folder called 'ctrlr'.
In there is a file called 'default.ini'
This file lists all functions of Mamewah and its associated key/s.
You can edit the file to either disable exiting entirely (by not having a key associated with it), or change it to another key.
In the 'docs' folder there is a file (ctrlr.txt) that lists key codes that can be used.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, whatisk.
That's the way to do it. ;D

No worries. Glad I can finally contribute back to the forums here :D

FYI, you can also remap the ESCAPE (or any key) to not just exit to desktop, but instead, to bring up a menu where you choose "Exit to Desktop, Exit and Restart, Exit and Shutdown, etc).

I use two-button combos on my cabinet to 'mask' sensitive MAMEwah commands, like 'Exit' and 'Settings'.
My top row of buttons looks like this:
(Esc) (Pause) (Tab) (Enter) (Coin)
-
ESC + COIN exits MAMEwah
ESC + PAUSE deploys the MAMEwah settings menu
Nice to see someone using simultaneous keypresses. While I stole the idea, getting the ctrlr file system working is one thing I am proud of ;D
