Title: MameWah: Exit and Shutdown - Too Fast Causing Sound Issues
Post by: NinjaEpisode on July 06, 2005, 09:12:46 am
Here's one that I couldn't find anything on.  When I use the Menu in Mamewah to exit and shutdown, things happen so quickly on my machine, that when I boot up next time sound isn't detected right away until I do a shutdown and restart?

I'm guessing it's a timing issue on the shutdown.  Did I miss it in the .ini file to adjust this?

Don't know what this problem is...Windows itself takes care of anything hardware related.

Anyone else have the same problem?

I've not seen this.

NinjaEpisode, I'd be curious as to what happens when your system shuts down quickly by any other means (pressing POWER comes to mind). It sounds like something is goofy in your OS, and the quick shutdown leaves something in a quirky state. Try pressing POWER (just once, briefly... don't hold it). See if that triggers Windows to shutdown. If it does, it should happen very quickly, much like what you're seeing from MAMEWAH. Then boot back up, see if the sound problem occurs.

Chemame.

I'll check this out when I get home from work tonight.

FWIW, I just had to replace the motherboard and install all new drivers.  Had a nasty storm blow threw last week that fried the previous board.  Sound is integrated into the board, so I know it's not something like a bad exterior card.

I'll need to doublecheck the bios as well to make sure I've got it set correctly for power down by power button.

Ok, my bad.  Had the bios set to instant off on shutdown.  Changed that to the normal delay and bingo all is well.  Thanks for helping me think through it fellas.
