Title: Thoughts on finiish
Post by: sp0rk on July 05, 2005, 11:31:03 pm
I'm restoring a couple cabinets.  One is a Donkey Kong Junior.  I spent a lot of time sanding the cabinet/etc, and was wondering what kind of finish most of you have used on your cabinets to make it smooth/hard on the outside.  I'm looking to protect the paint job, but leave the origional Orange color.

I know poly tends to yellow.  Anything else you've used that has had great success?  I searched for some ideas, but didn't come up with many alternatives.  Thanks!

I haven't done a cab yet, but hope to soon. Whenever I've wanted to protect the paint on furniture, I've used clear, spray-on lacquer

I am going to use Minwax Polycrylic on my cab.  I did a test piece and it looked nice.  I hope it doesn't yellow over time though.  I did read that it is better than the regular poly though...
