Title: star wars trigger switch
Post by: wee beastie on December 18, 2002, 11:14:39 am
hey guys,  I got a yoke awhile back and one of the grips is missing the thumb switch and trigger.  I found a thumb switch rebuild kit (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=746687399) and contacted the seller about buying that.

Unfortunately, I can't find a trigger rebuild kit anywhere.  I just need the plastic trigger (not a spring--I'll take that too, though).  That being said does anyone here
1- have an extra for sale
2- know where to buy this or
3- know of any other joystick i could gut that uses the same plastic trigger

TIA

OMG, the seller, classicade, is absolutely amazing!! :o

He offered me the thumb switch rebuild kit for free, and told me to have a merry christmas!  I'm just blown away by this!!!! :)

Although, I didn't purchase anything, I'm sure he is an absolute great seller on ebay.  If this "gift" is any indication of his character, I'm sure all his transactions are solid!!!

just letting everyone know

While you have your grips apart, can you measure them?  Better yet, scan both sides of the grip halves and the trigger, button and springs, with a ruler on the scanner as a reference.... :)

For the short term, maybe you could whittle some plastic or hard wood into the shape of your existing trigger until you find a real one?

sorry, no scanner to do that with  :-\

I do have a digicam, though.  After christmas, I'll have my system up and running again, and I can mail you some high res pics from my digicam.  deal?

on a side note,  I may just have the triggers remade with metal (as opposed to plastic).  A friend of mine's father-in-law makes jewelry and has all the necessary tools to make a mold and cast a new trigger.  Since I do have one functional trigger already, I can use that to make the mold, and make 2 new metal triggers.

I'm gonna look at the cost of doing this and then work from there

wee beastie,

It would be great if you could get some triggers made.  I would be interested in getting a pair or two, if you are trying to gauge interest.

May want to look at this. Red trigger switch at Happs says it works for Stun Runner don't know about Star Wars though.

No good, as in another post, the grips on the stun runner yoke are different, and use different triggers...  They also look just like the Happ grip assemblies.

Dave,

If I end up going that route, I'll let you know.  It probably won't be for awhile, so don't hold your breath. ;)
