I have just downloaded AdvanceCD but I seem to be having some problems getting it running.
I have DL'd the zip file and unpacked it. I then added some roms and the sample/snap/flyer etc files to the appropriate folders within the image/arcade directory. I then checked the files using the checkrom script which said everything was fine. I created the CD image using the makecd script which produced the advcd.iso. All I did then was to burn the .iso to a cd. It didnt like doing it in nero so I just used the windows explorer burner. I have tried the cd in two computers (put it in and rebooted) but windows just reloads. Both PCs are set to boot from the CD drive if there is a bootable CD in it.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Do I need to unzip the iso before burning? I would try and mess about some more but I only have a couple of blank CDs left and I have plenty of coasters already. Please help, I NEED mame at work!!

Franco,Buy a good quality re-writable CD for this experiment. ;)
use an appropriate Image burning software like (Nero burning).
what do you mean by thatDo I need to unzip the iso before burning?
ISO image is a kind of Fake CD,just like saving data with the disire setting.Zip file cannot make a bootable cd.You should simply do Burning an Image with (nero burning) and that image file have to be add as ISO file.

OK thanks.
Im using Nero 6.0.0.17 There is an option to burn the CD as a bootable disc. Do I want to do this or will burning it as a 'data' disc automatiaclly make it bootable because of the ISO?

Still no joy :(
I have tried burning the .iso created by Nero to a CD at low speed. This just burns the .iso file onto the disc (is that correct?) When I put it in the computer and reboot it just goes into windows.
I then tried unzipping the .iso with winrar which then gave me the arcade, boot and free folders that it contained. I then burnt these to a disc using Neros 'Create a Bootable CD' option. When I reset the computer it just came up with the non system disc error.
Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Ahh Thats is where you are going wrong...
In Nero go into the main application, then goto Recorder>Burn Image and then point it to your iso file.
