So I fired up Punch-Out last night and the video was duplicated and overlapping. I turned hwstretch off and everything looked fine.
Basically Punch-Out used two monitors (http://www.mame.net/mamefaq.html#d05) but for some reason hardware stretching doesn't work well for this game. It appears that it decided to destroy the aspect ratio?
I wonder if this is related to Howard Casto's aspect ratio work around (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,2327.0.html)? Or is there something else going on here?
I'm wondering, am I going to see this again, or is this a bug specific to punch out (and super punch out)? What can I do to avoid this problem in other games in the future? I hate when a friend comes over and starts up a game and then complains that I suck because their game doesn't work perfectly.
If it's common to a set of games maybe I can set hardware stretch to 0 in their bios ini file? But I couldn't figure out which file that would be for punchout. I feel like I'm missing some piece of information: LIke a short list of games this applies to, or maybe simply a switch in my mame.ini that says "Stretch but don't mess up the aspect ratio" - which I think I already have set on : "keepaspect 1".

You are going to have to post your mame.ini
I tried it with hwstretch on and off and it looks fine either way on my systems.
