anyone?? i know 8liners sells cheap monitors, but are they really actually sell refurbish arcade monitor or they use the tv tube and put in the chassis to make an arcade monitor?
-
I hear a lot of people who feel they didn't get what they paid for with a brand new one anyway. Buy refurbished, or refurbish yourself, that's the way to go for an arcade monitor IMO. I bought a non working one with burn in for AU $150 which was cheap for Australia. I fixed it for about $1 worth of capacitors, and I like the burnt effect, makes it look authentic (although you have to look hard to see it)

Why not just use a VGA monitor

8 Liners monitors are (well they used to be when they were selling them on eBay) simply a consumer television set with a Jenn-Shinn chassis connected to it, STILL in the consumer TV plastic casing (no arcade frame/etc..) He listed "case style may vary"
Given the cost on them (he used to sell for $119 for 19") I will assume that they are USED tubes/sets as even with the best discounts, you can't buy a new TV set for under $69 for 19" and his chassis sell for $65 == greater than $120 price. Presume he gets them from repair shops or rummage sales or thrift shops.. This is just an assumption based on his pricing, pictures on ebay/etc..
If they are in arcade frames, and still at the $120 price, I can still pretty much bet they're used tubes, but new chassis.
In which case you can build one yourself for a LOT less, if you have access to a 19" tube from a tv set and buy the Wei-Ya chassis from Alva Amusments for $50. After shipping and a little work you can have an arcade monitor for about $60-$80 depending on how much the donated TV cost (nothing to $20 typically). Read the threads about replacement chasiss here as not all tube yokes mate with all replacement chassis ideally (geometric issues) and you might have to try a couple different ones to find a good match, or spend an extra $20 at Alva for a guarenteed matching yoke and swap it onto the tube.

is the quality of the tv tube +chassis is equally the same as arcade monitor or arcade monitor still better? i mean in resolution, picture quality (bright and crispy) and does it give you eye constrain like normal tv ?
and i dont see any $50 chassis on that site

A TV picture tube is identical to an arcade picture tube.
Therefore a TV tube+arcade chassis, whether 25 years old or brand new replacement == you have an arcade monitor.
If you get a NEW tube, and a replacement chassis with matching yoke, it is identical to an arcade monitor because it *IS* an arcade monitor.
8liners does not sell Wei-Ya chassis for $50... Alva Amusements do. Search this forum and there are many posts about Alva and the WeiYa chassis including links to their site to buy it for $50.

what i really want to know is how the image quality will be displayed on a TV tube+chassis..will the images of TV+chassis's look the same as the images display on arcade monitor? and does it give you headache if you look too close to the monitor of the TV+chassis (like when you stare close at any TV or computer monitors, you get a headache)

Why not just use a VGA monitor
Because arcade machines don't use VGA monitors. ;)

As I said, a TV tube IS the SAME TUBE as an arcade monitor tube. Therefore the picture quality of a TV+Arcade replacement chassis is IDENTICAL to that of a pre-made arcade monitor.
You get a headache by staring too long at close range at ANY monitor. An arcade monitor is no different. Specifically the refresh rate is between 47 and 65 Hz typically.

thanks..thats what i really wanted to know...and i wonder if i can put a 25"wells gardner chassis on to my dead 27" Sony TV? or can you put any wells gardner chassis on any TV?

Trinitron tubes are the exception. To the best of my knolwedge they are a totally different breed and will not swap in as an arcade replacement. Only standard shadow mask tubes (the high majority of the population of tubes out there) will work. Perhaps Ken has more info on using Trinitron tubes.
