Title: stupid noobie question...
Post by: starcrudph on June 30, 2005, 09:36:20 pm
I want to display to an rgb monitor...I have a built in video card, do i need extra hardware to run mame or doscab? I am aware of the software needed but Im no expert at it. Can't I just wire the vga to the rgb connectors directly or do I need a special hardware coz I dont need fantastic graphics, only something that works clear.

My 2 cents...

What we did in our situation....

We wanted our TV to serve as our monitor, so what I did was to purchase a VGA to RGB cable from a local computer store.  The thing cost me $30, and delivered a great game image, far superior to S-video.  I am also using powerstrip to adjust timings a bit so that we can use the TV as a monitor for word processing, but it's a free download.

we normally use rgb engines and use picture tubes of an old ntsc tv. I dunno how to connect a built in video card(if possible) to it. any suggestions, an agp video card or agp with tv out perhaps? Please give me suggestions.
