Title: Speaker Location
Post by: MrD on June 30, 2005, 04:24:51 pm
In a bubbler-type Jukebox, (Wurlitzer etc) where were the speakers located? I'm going to try and build one similar to that.

The only place I can see is maybe in the center underneath the controls.  That area might be fabric and the speakers are housed behind it?  Inside the "U" lighting?

I know that a subwoofer location isn't as critical because bass is non-directional.  But what about the other speakers?  I always thought speakers should be at about ear level.  Even sitting that area seems a bit low, and then doesn't the left and right channels get mixed since they are so close together?

If I mount the speakers pointing out the sides, then I'm afraid you'll only hear one channel.

Does anyone have any thoughts on where the speakers should be located?

Thanks

The Rowe-Ami/Antique Apparatus reproduction "Bubbler" models have the speakers mounted on the front door just as in the original Wurliter 1015 from the 1940's did.
